Here is a update from the machine shop, on the strut brace. As some of you may remember I went with a Mason engineering strut brace with the problem the center section was not removable and removing the strut brace would change my alignment settings. Here are the First pictures of the removable sections on the strut brace. I'm immensely happy how this turned out next up welding to secure them in place.

The bar with the locating pins is just there to minimize shift and help everything stay in place where it should be before welding.

I thought so! The price to do this is sickening though. 3 1/2 days labor @ a machine shop rate! Yikes!

Well, doing things the right way is usually the hard (read more expensive) way.

Also for those interested, the Motorsport24 oil coolers have shipped and are on thier way to me! Will post up some pics when I receive them/install them. I might do some hard coat type 3 anodizing, and change lines up a bit if I don't like the SS.

Motorsport24 oil coolers in. Nice simple bolt on, should be effective. Coolers are dual pass, so oil is getting cooled on the way in and on the way out. You can see how they separate the two by the welds.. I have already dropped them off for hard coat 3 anodizing, hope to install next weekend.

They are very well made. When I get them back from the coaters, I am going to look into small fans for them. If I can mount them forward enough for the fans to clear the fender liners, I will wire a pair in to the radiator fan circuit.

Small update on the Carbon Dynamics Boca GTS Front lip..... it seemed with the stresses put on this, there wouldn't be enough strength in the carbon fiber to not break using just washers and screws. So i bought a 1/8 inch thich aluminium bar stock and cut it up into sections to fit inside the lip for added surface area clamping. I glued them in with 3M windshield adhesive, and when it dries I will re drill the holes. Also picked up stainless washers and a little longer Zinc Plated screws.

This is interesting.. I have the same lip and planning to install it soon by a shop. Curious how this works out for you. Can you keep us updated on install?

Sure. I hope to install it Saturday. I highly doubt anything will go wrong, and I guess that is exactly the point of me gluing the plates in..... its more of insurance in case the screws and washers aren't enough.

The carbon lip local stress relief exercise makes sense to me. While that increase mechanical longgevity, there seems to be unnecessary galvanic corrosion risk in the mix of metals with a large anodic difference. Especially if the road water and moisture (ie electrolyte) can get to the aluminium. Would recommend to match screw and washer (best: all) metals.

Hence the zinc plated fasteners. ;-)

Tomorrow will be day 3 of the install. Nothing fits properly, and or, plays well with other aftermarket goodies....
Lots have to be modified, cut ground down, drilled, or riveted..lol. ugh.

The totality of things being done are;
Motorsport24 oil coolers install (aux rad delete)
CSF aluminium radiator install (plus some new (135i) coolant lines)
Obviously oil change and coolant flush
Carbon Dynamics CF front lip install
Front bumper respray
New strut brace install

Nothing custom is easy. Time for bed.

Here is a quick pic of the new engine bay look. Waiting on revised fender liners to put on the final adjustments to the oil coolers. I cut and riveted in mesh to the old liners, but will wait for the new ones to make a final decision on which to use. Strut brace turned out fantastic. Glad I put in the extra effort.

Update time. Recently in Boston we've had some 90 degree plus days and I've been waiting for this weather to test out all the new Cooling apparatuses. My water temperature rarely exceeds 225F usually hovering around 200F or less my oil temperature hasn't exceeded 245F (sustained uphill WOT pulls to 150mph) in very sporty driving and quickly drops to the 220F to 230F mark usually hovering around 230F. Measuring the temperature of the oil lines with a snap on infrared laser thermometer I'm seeing a 30-degree difference between the inlets and Outlets on both. Very pleased with the results, this thing can now take a licking and keep on ticking.
