Not sure if I dreamed this or what, but I thought I saw somewhere that the bone stock N52 with a BMW claimed 230hp & 200tq, was dyno’d @ 183.88whp & 172.40wtq.

Does that compute? Anyone have bone stock results to share?

Depends on the car, and depends on the transmission.

My black car - Stock 6 Speed with K&N filter - 212whp/188wtq
My white car - Stock 6 Speed with BMW Performance exhaust 214whp/195wtq

The graphs are around here somewhere.

What mods are on your car and what transmission?

Just trying to get a TRUE baseline for all the mods after the MILVS upgrades are complete.

I have the Euro airbox, 3 stage intake, PE, with automatic trans and a BPC tune, and it ran 217whp and 205wtq on the dyno at BPC on Wednesday.

I think I found what I was looking for - BPC has a dyno run for a stock N52 at 189whp and 185wtq.

https://bimmerperformancecenter.com/...=5834346922022

Thanks...

Those are good number for an automatic, they typically are around that area with headers and a tune.

Are you adding headers too?

Nope...I didn't want the additional noise and smell. I have a Hemi RAM if I want to wake the neighbors up...

I don't drive much in the 5,500+rpm range, or much over 80mph, so to me anyway, the torque is just as important as the horsepower, if not more...

OK...here we are...

The baseline dyno (red) is a 2012 128i with:
Tiptronic Automatic
BMW Euro airbox with K&N conical filter
BMW 3 stage intake manifold with disa valves
Stock downtubes, cats (front and rear), and resonator
BMW Performance exhaust
BPC tune
Sprint Booster Module

The updated dyno (blue) incorporates all of the above with the addition of:
MILVS
BPC MILVS tune

The car pulls very hard, almost like the gearing was changed. I wanted to drive all the way home from Raleigh on I85/I95 in 3rd gear. 5,000rpm to 6,000rpm is a downright hoot...

Bob sent over a chart with my latest dyno numbers overlaid on a bone stock N52 automatic dyno.

My little 128i with the modifications to date is up 40whp over stock...for a 21.75% increase in whp.

I have AA headers (with stage 3, aFe, AA tune)...there's no smell that I've ever noticed, and the sound, thru my Magnaflow cat-back, is simply fantastic...it's loud, but totally livable at part throttle...

The more you do, the more headers will add...not to mention the look, the stock manifold with those balloon-like cats is just plain ugly...BTW, I could still pass 49 state emissions, according to Manny @ AA...

He could do AFE headers and leave/remove the secondaries if he was really worried about it. But if he's happy, let him be.
My car is completely Catless (headers AND secondaries) and it does smell. I'll be adding a highflow catalyst soon.

Thanks...I looked long and hard at headers...but I'm 65...I don't really need loud at this point in my life...though I am hard of hearing.

I raise the hood to add washer fluid...the look of the stock downtubes don't bother me one bit.

My next upgrade for this little beast will be an xHP transmission tune...and then I'm done.

Now...if I was in my 40's again...that would be a different story, and I still have my 98whp 2001 Harley Road King and my 2012 tuned Hemi Ram if I want loud...

You're only as young as ya feel.

In my sixties and have all solid mounts/bushings, race suspension, six point roll cage, headers and straight pipe race exhaust, race shell seats and six points, gutted interior, race clutch, you name it. And it's my daily, at least when it isn't the shop. Go for it dude, it's a shitload of fun.

I dynoed 194whp on a Mustang bone stock. I am getting AA exhaust, headers and tune all done at the same time. I am considering the MILVs or the 3 stage but I need to save up for that and will have that done later this year/early next.

I am also new to the E82 community as I came from an E60 with the N52. I got the same engine due to my familiarity with the engine. Got mine with 16.5k miles on the clockclock and there's a catch.. it's an AT but I still love her. Always wanted a 1 and never thought it would happen and it did

No mods, bone stock baseline figures

What a torque chart! Your low miles may account in large measure?

Not yet had a dyno - ordered MILVS this week and the vcg=stuff since I'm in there. Dyno later this spring

Are dynos calibrated across platforms...Mustang same output as dynojet?

Need those with experience to report on this!

DynoJet will read about 10% more than a Mustang dyno.
DynoJets are very consistent site to site for comparison.

UPDATE:

I had been experienced several instances of limp mode being induced. Took the 128i back to BPC after the local BWM dealer updated the ECU.

Bob installed a new tune mated to the updated ECU that produced 224.5 WHP on the dyno, (up about 0.6 whp after installing a Turner silicone intake pipe), and within a day, I'm in limp mode again.

Spoke with BPC, and they recommended removing the Sprint Booster to see if perhaps that was sending conflicting messages. They have never had this issue with an N51 or N52 before. I have an N52.

I disconnected the Sprint Booster and read/cleared the historic fault codes today. They were: SE19 - DSC Engine Management, and 5817 - EGS signal fault, torque reduction.

Neither code was still present at the time of the reading. Power still seems down somewhat, so not sure what's up. I will drive it for a week to see if it goes into limp mode again and get back to BPC on the next move.

Randall and Bob have been terrific during this process...I'm very grateful to have them on my team.

If the car feels "down" on power, it's likely an adaptation issue. Reset them (if you have the cable, or you can use the throttle procedure) and go from there. Fingers crossed for you.

Edit: do you have the new dyno?
