Hey Yall..just got off the phone with Scotty..he is a mere 45 minutes from The Glen !!!!! MAD MANNNNNN....weather good..gorgeous "seasonal" NY countryside..yes..actual colored leaves a falling...whooshing thru piles of them...turbo never lagging.....elevation changes...twisties...and on into the Racetrack..( jealous ? )
he did say that his gas mileage was rather good..he made it to almost out of Nevada - North of Vegas from HB on the first tank...raced thru the rockies with some rice Rocket Show with radar detection ..car hitting triple digits ( whoah Scotty...) and streaming thru Colorado under the stealthful and starry night... Scott may have slept a mere 6 hours in total...but he is at his destination now...so CHEERS !!!!! Beek " I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that even... Read More Death will tremble to take us.." -C Bukowski- |

Spent the past couple days with Scott, Ralph and Scott's dad! Genuinely nice folk. Ralph also knew the best places to grab lunch, and the group of us traded stories over some righteous food.
Ralph Warren is the driver of the Total/Nitto 135i, and managed the front row for the Friday matinee race in the rain, and managed to stave off quite a few cars and took a first place. Was awesome to see. Scott put us right to work fueling up the car, and helping to do tire swaps. Regarding Scott.. holy cow. He drove all the way from Cali to Watkins Glen, NY only stopping for gas, fast food, and one 4 hr nap in the race seat of the 135i, and drove non-stop for 48hrs otherwise. Once I heard that, I assumed he'd be a basketcase, but is a great guy too! Here's a few pics I took of Ralph driving the car around corner 1 and up the esses. |

Will be here, when the results are complete and official.
Again, it was fantastic to see Ralph pulling hard on many cars there, on such a historic track. There were 130 club racers there this week. I've never seen anywhere near that many in one place. So, on top of all the other cool OFest stuff, we had an amazing number of racers there. |

Scott, how are you finding time to post?
Last I heard, you were off to N Carolina for a shower and meal, and then were off to Santa Fe, or some crazy drive once again! Btw, enjoyed hanging with you guys, and glad we could help out! |

Scott in Santa Fe -- headed for Phoenix and PIR
Scott and I linked up the evening of 10/2 and he crashed in our guest bedroom after some really long hours on the road from Richmond. This morning he left for Albuquerque to pick up Zack and head for Phoenix where the car will racing this weekend. The car created a lot of interested while it was parked on the Santa Fe Plaza last evening while we grabbed a bite to eat. It was a pleasure to meet Scott and learn more about his racing efforts. Good luck at PIR!

Hi All - I finally made it back to SoCal last night after the 135i got a couple more class wins at PIR.
What a grand adventure it was, but sleeping and showering at truck stops was something I had never done. I don't know how truckers do it month in and month out. Mike - thank you so much for the hospitality. You have a great place up there and it made the return trip so much more enjoyable.

Hi All - I've been trying to decide where the document the whole road trip process and I think I'll do it on the race car thread:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8162 But if anybody has questions or wants advice on taking this kind of thing on in this thread, I'll be happy to answer. The most important thing is taking something like that on in a good frame of mind and being able to tolerate things when they don't go 100% to plan. Like being able to cope with driving hours on end in a cockpit like the one below.
