Help pls, engine trouble!
Hey guys, just joined so don't troll too hard. I have a 2011 n55 with 46k miles on it; mods are procede v5, BMS CAI, and CP-e catback. Now...the problem is the other night when I was leaving a party an engine code was thrown (the one with an engine and a slash through it). The car's throttle isn't as responsive at lower rpm's than it was before the code. It's not misfiring but has before. I got out an obd code reader and it said the code thrown is P16E6-Throttle valve adaptation: compliance with prescribed environmental conditions not achieved: Battery voltage too low. Sooo since it said I had low voltage I got my meter out and checked my battery with engine running and it read fine (12.2 volts). Being that I have a procede v5 I reset all my adaptations and cleared the code to get it off my dash...and the problem still persists. If I had to guess I would say spark plugs...but it's not misfiring just less throttle response. So someone please provide me with any suggestions or answers you may have. Thanks in advance guys!

With your engine running the battery voltage should be more like 13.5 volts. With the engine off your voltage should be at least 12.8v standing. You can also measure for AC volts across the battery with the engine running. IF you have more than 1 ACv your alternator is bad, well actually the rectifier inside the Alt.
When you were leaving this "party" could you have been beating on a cold engine? Maybe? Dack

The N55 engines do not have a traditional throttle valve. Only a sort of flap for use on cold starts. Perhaps that is why it threw a code.
I think low battery voltage might be your real problem though. I would just clear the codes and see if you throw another engine check light.

It hasn't thrown any codes since I cleared it, but it seems so sluggish till around 4k rpm's. Do you think I should put new spark plugs in? I also went for a ride earlier and around 60mph in 6th gear when I floored it, it had a slight shudder to it?

a slight shutter = a misfire
Yea... I think you should replace your spark plugs. They are due to be replaced every 45K miles. Most guys with a tune replace them every 20K or 25K. I would recheck for codes. Just because you don't have an ECL doesn't mean you do not have any codes in the ECU(DME).
