I personally don't know but heres an old slip of when I ran with just Cobb Stage 2+, FMIC and downpipes on 93 octane and stock RFT's:

Here's my slip with the same mods but on the Cobb E30 map:

I was so close to cracking 11's on stock RFT's...

*Edit: Whoops just realized tune only lol*

I broke into the 12's on tune only, but it seems like I remember seeing some in the mid to low 12's--just don't know how.

Tune only, 3/4 tank of gas (noob mistake), 1/4 was 93, 1/2 was 91 I did 13.1. Posted the slip on the FB group. Probably could have broken into the 12s with 1/4-1/8 tank of gas 93 only and better launches. Had bad 60' on all runs.

Because its playing nice with the ECU not just tricking it into doing stuff like a pure piggy back install does.

Its a flash of the ECU so it does all those things a flash can do that a piggy back alone can't. Its also a piggy back which excels at boost control. End result is a very nice package

Do you have to own both the JB4 and the Cobb to do this? And is it safe and reliable on a daily driver?

You can download the software to flash it from your comp but you need to buy the BT cable. The flash itself is just a free download. You would just need to download the correct one for your car and application!

I noticed its a free download. I need the cable and im not very comfortable flashing it myself. I would need someone with some experience doing it to help me. But I have to get the cable first.

Easy way with no issues is with the COBB + JB4/ISO. A little more complex is the BT-cable + JB4/ISO. End result is the same in both cases.

Yes its safe for the street, my car is a DD.

Is there like a thread somewhere where I can find detailed info on how both tuning options work with each other to do this? I can only seem to find how to's with no detailed info on what the cobb does, and jb4 does when used at the same time.

They function differently. The JB4 sends bogus inputs to the ECU to get its results while the COBB actually changes the coding in the ECU (flash) to get its results.

I could be wrong but it is my impression that COBB does everything pretty well but the JB4 aces boost management. So what the stack does is splits the areas of responsibility between the two units so each operates in its area of expertise. For example the JB4 does not deal with VANOS tuning but COBB does. Right now IMHO the stack is the pick of the litter based on actual posted time slips & airport run vids.

Next week something else might be better because its a moving target & the both the really popular systems, JB4 & COBB, are constantly evolving..

Thanks, that I understood. But how are they more efficient working together? Does the flash takeover some of the jb4 load? Sorry for the specifics, if there is a thread I can read, please point me in the right direction, and thanks for the replies!

I hit enter before I was done typing DUH

What I forgot to add is that Terry writes custom maps for the COBB unit to install on the ECU. These COBB maps are optimized for use with the JB4/ISO's own maps.

LOL Thank you very much. Exactly that was curiosity. Would an indy tuner be able to work all these aspects without the need for both systems? There is a really good local guy, who can squeeze out a lot from the engine without getting into dangerous territory. Or so everyone says.
