Exhaust actuator hose

For those that have the PE installed, what did they do with the actuator hose? From what I gather the PE does not have a flapper valve. Pictures would be nice.

Garage List
There is a dummy stud to plug it into.

Is the stud on the actuator or on the PE?

The actuator is gone once you remove the original muffler. The stud is on the PE.

So from what I can gather the hose is removed from the actuator, which is removed with the old muffler, and then the hose is plugged into a stud on the new muffler. The new muffler does not have a flapper so the hose does not do anything.

Is that what I am gathering?

Correct.

The stud is there just to plug the vacuum hose so you don't have a vacuum leak. I just left the golf tee i had used plugged into my hose.

You got to where I was going. I would like to tie the hose but was concerned that there might be other areas, using the vacuum, that would be affected if I did that.

It appears that they just put the hose on the stub so nothing can be drawn into it.
Unfortunately I am unable to afford the PE but did want to get a little more sound from the exhaust.

Thanks for your input.

Yes I have been reading most of them. I guess I am just a little, maybe a lot, annal and did not want to do anything that would cause damage.

I have been unable to get a real answer from a qualified BMW mechanic. Only that BMW put it on there for a reason. I believe the reason is to be a little quieter.

Thank for you contribution.

I can tell you with absolute confidence that the “golf tee mod” will NOT damage anything. You are simply plugging a vacuum line that operates the OE exhaust flap. There is absolutely nothing that is important to the DME regarding vacuum from that source. Stick a golf tee in it, tuck it behind the fire wall, and move on. You’re fine.

Thank you I will do just that. I have tried it before and like the sound. I just cannot justify the cost of a PE even though it would be much better than the tee mod.

Thanks again, have a great day.

I tuck the end of my vac line into the perforations on the side of the bumper cover down there. works great and stays put. It's worth noting that I shoved a male-male vacuum coupler in the end of it and put a cap on it, so it has a slight extension on it.
