Ditto the not surprised it happened in S. Korea. Lived there for same amount of time in Ulsan and it is mayhem on the streets. Even the pedestrians are not safe on the side walks (where many cars park and short-cut through)! Rain, snow and foul weather have no impact on the driving style there.

A sad sight indeed!

I was thinking that. Maybe it's different for ROW markets.

Also I'm pretty sure the damage is going to require more than "moderate bodywork." The car is designed to crumple; I wouldn't be surprised if it's a total loss.

why doesn't this car have the shadow line trim? All of the american 1Ms come standard with this...

I heard that a car which violated traffic signal hit the 1M..additionally wrecking one more vehicle.

And..shadow line trim is not provided for 1M in Korea..Everyone hate this.

We have no choice for customization here..no adaptive headlights, no harman-kardon..etc.

Chrome line trim is standard on the 1M in some markets, and an option in others.

For example, US and UK 1Ms come standard with shadow line trim, while Germany gets chrome line standard.

I concur. hope everyone was ok, and best of luck to the owner in getting it repaired, it's very likely that replacement parts are in very short supply/backordered as manufacturers typically focus on the production line rather than stocking spare parts, in the early stages of production.

Easy now...I think it was answered above - another driver ran the light. Unless that driver is coming over here anytime soon, we're probably safe from this exact situation happening.

It was due to someone running a red light.... Terrible. The 1M owner was provided a Mercedes 350 coupe while his car is getting fixed...wonder how long that will take. Luckily noone was seriously injured(to my knowledge).

Looks of the damage, doesn't look like a left/right impact, like you'd expect from a car having run a light. It looks like it got the entire front pretty uniformally.
Red light running happens a lot around where I am, I'm in the habit of paying attention as to whether somebody looks like they're going to slow down before I pull out. Wet pavement/braking maybe?
It's a shame though, was a nice looking car
