Mine was in the trunk, but I checked for it before I left the dealership. I had to remind them to give me the y cable for my iPod hookup though.

Where was it located in the trunk?

Mine was already installed, but I did a performance center delivery. I just left it as it really does not bother anyone and I feel much safer having a drink in there than anywhere else (limited to water of course). There is a strap in the back left of the trunk that is ostensibly supposed to be used to hold the drink holder when you want to stow it away.

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but with the MY 08 cars you got the auxiliary cup holder when you got the I-Drive system. That's because the I-Drive eliminates one of the two cup holes in the center console.

You only get the auxiliary cup holder if you got the Navigation option with iDrive. If you didn't get Nav then I think you can still get the cup holder. You will just have to order the parts from a BMW dealer and install it yourself.

That's how it was supposed to work, but in reality it didn't because of a software issue. You'll see pictures of several cars here (mine included) that got the extra cupholder even though they didn't have the iDrive option on the car because of a glitch in BMW's ordering software. They're all cars that were configured with Idrive, and then had it changed back. The cupholder is a seperate option line but the only way to add it is by adding iDrive. The glitch happens when the iDrive option is removed, because it doesn't take the cupholder option back off as you would expect. The end result is a car like mine with 3 cupholders for two passengers. It took us a while to figure why certain cars were getting it and others weren't, even though they had the exact same option packages. |

i believe to get it, the CA has to put it down on your build sheet. My sheet had it listed as an option. At first I didnt like it, but it is a great place to keep my cellphone.
I guess if it's good enough for the M6, it's good enough for the 1'ers lol |

I like my little cup holder but I always thought the cup holder underneath the armrest was one of the most idiotic "features" of this car. Besides a sippy cup, I cannot find a cup size or height that fits in there. Unfortunately I have outgrown sippy cups.

I agree it pathetic, but I think you are supposed to put your armrest in the up position if you need to use this cup holder.

I like that one. I've got a change holder in it. I'd highly recommend picking one up at Target (or maybe Wal Mart but I'm not sure) for a few bucks. |
