Rear brake clanging noise

Think I've got the infamous m3 cowbell problem Have a search on M3post if your wondering what I'm on about. Very loud, makes people stop and stare, sounds like someone hitting an empty coke can with a hammer. Only happens at very low speeds, stops above 5 mph or so.
Was fairly sure it was a stone stuck between the disc and the backplate, as it went away after a couple of days, but now it's come back. Poked and prodded the backplate, had the wheel off and can see nothing obvious.
Trip to the dealer beckons, need the disc off I think, but wondering if the handbrake adjuster could be the problem.

Any one had this and found out the cause?

Cheers

Pete.
