I agree. Unfortunatly the Coupe (in 135i applications) outsells the vert by more than 40%. However, I remember hearing either Scott or South saying that there would be a vert version, as the 1er is the last ragtop in the BMW fleet and they want to keep the customers who prefer to not have a tin roof.

Man I am so waiting for this new m1 to come out. I always loved the m3, but it seems every generation they get a lil larger and the 1 series is curtain similar size to my curtain e46 M that I have, which is a perfect size to me. Smaller size, less weight means better performance.

This M1 will surely be a beast, but remeber the next M1 comes with I4 Twin-Power-Twin-Turbo and 350 hp and no more I6. It should be even lighter. But imagin the next Z2 M Coupé..........

well, I certainly won't track the car as much as I will enjoy it on warm summer days with the roof opened... it's a question of priorities.

Harsh judgement dont you think? Are you the same type of guy that says that vert owners cant be true enthusiats?

The Modern M car is more a GT car than a sports car, so why wouldnt an M car be for him?

No, I don't think saying an ///M car may not be for someone who prefers added weight, reduced head room, less structural integrity, higher center of gravity is harsh. I have a sunroof in my 135 and I enjoy it. I respect people's preferences and don't think you have to track your car if it's an ///M, but why get the motorsport version if that is the case.

Just sharing my opinion.

I would have to be arrested then, I would choose a moonroof over a CF roof...

I don't, personally, like verts, but a car w/o a moonroof/sunroof just seems so closed in.

I have ordered enough cars from my SA that I don't need to put down a deposit.

agrees. It's all about strength and loss of weight up top.

Do you even read posts? You are quick to insult, yet you never really make a decent counter point.

I was talking about the driver, not the car, its fairly obvious.

Love mine - black headliner, black trim, no hole in the roof.

My ideal thrill car would be a mad, bad Caterham - no half measures, either a closed tin or no roof at all.

Generally I would say you are right, but there are plenty of enthusiasts that drive the MX-5 Miata. Hell, it has its own SCCA league.

Yeah well, there is no steady rule. Up until about the E46 generation of cars I think, it was either as $1000 option or at least there was a sunroof delete option (with a $1000 credit).

Then they became mandatory, except for the E92 M3 (CF roof standard) and E90 M3 (my lucky stars) where it probably had something to do with providing a consolation proze for not having the CF roof.

And now there are rumors that BMWNA is considering a sunroof delete option again for the 335is (because it's supposed to be sporty).

It'd be nice to have the option - there is no greater waste of money and weight for those who don't want them.
