Finally
Update:
Just got back from an awesome visit with BMW in The Woodlands. I told them exactly what I wanted, offered them $500 over invoice, and it was a done deal. Most pain-free car buying experience I've ever had. Wish I would've gone there a few weeks ago. Now comes the long painful wait for the build and trip across the pond.

As much as it pained me to decide to forego the power of my Dinan tuned 135i, I went for a 128i. Figured I'd get what will probably be the last naturally aspirated engine BMW makes. As much as I love that power and torque, I rarely have occasion to make good use of it. The build is:
Manual transmission Alpine White Convenience Package Premium Package 2 Oyster Leather Anthracite Trim M Sport Package Nav Harmon Kardon Cold weather package I guess that's pretty much loaded. I actually wanted the gray poplar trim, but they are not currently able to order it due to some supply shortage. Gonna try to get it switched in a week or two if it is possible. This wait is going to kill me.

Thanks. I guess it's all relative. From my perspective you are the lucky one. You'll be getting your new ride before I do. I bought my current 135i off a local lot because I didn't want to go through the wait. The E90 I had before that was also an order which came with the traditional eight-week wait. Agonizing.

500 over is a great deal.the age old saying you get what you pay for is super important in the ordering process. When you "grind" the dealer down to nothing the sales consultant no longer has much interest in the deal and will be less likely to follow up with you throught your odering process. the ordering process is painstaking in its self and good communication is very important. good luck and enjoy

I didn't have to pay the training fee.

I haven't used the 800 number, but have been following along on the BMW website. And as luck would have it just today my status changed to production completed and awaiting shipment. Does the 800 number still help to track once the car is sitting there waiting for a ship to cross the pond? Come to think about it I don't even know where to find the 800 number. I've heard lots about it though.
That is a good question. I didn't know that even exists. It has never been a factor when buying my last two Bimmers. Is this something new that BMW has recently started to do?

Scary that I've memorized it... lol. You're not going to find super detailed information but I find that it updates faster than the website and provides a little more insight. Once your car gets on a boat, call your CA and he'll let you know what boat you're on. From there, you'll be tracking using other ship tracking sites. |

So, you think you've got a price from car buying service like I did. Not so fast. Here, have another $600. |

The Training Fee really isn't supposed to be charged to the end customer. Its not on the sticker or invoice. But based on threads here some people pay it and some don't. I think it you nickel and dime then like I did they charge it to you. If you negotiate off sticker then they don't. Its only like $279 though.
Just get your VIN from your CA. Then call the 800 number every day (twice a day if you're an idiot like me) and wait for status to change to "in transit". The webiste is anywhere from 1 to several days behind the 800 number for status changes. Once you have the VIN and your car is "in transit" then go here http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp and under "Track & Trace" click "All Users". Then input your VIN under Cargo ID and it will tell you what ship you're on and when its scheduled to arrive at various ports. Once you know the ship's name you can track its progress over the ocean. |

It is automated, but you have the option to talk with a live operator. They have the most up to date data on your vehicle. Very friendly to talk to and do not seem to mind the calls from people wondering about their new cars all day, lol. I would talk with them at least once to get the most recent data available. You can decide from there if you need to talk with them more.

Not sure if its standard practice but I just ordered a 128i M sport and paid 2k below MSRP. Not sure its because I'm a repeat customer with this salesman or the fact that all the dealer has to do is process paperwork. I also am going to do the Performance Center delivery as its only @5hrs away. Now for June to get here

I just got back from my Performance Center delivery and it was easily one of the most fun times I have had in a long while. You will have a ball. Congrats on the order and enjoy yourself.

Thanks. Just got home from picking her up and she is beautiful. I'll probably miss the power of my Dinan 135 for a while, but I'll get over it.
