Question Pricing question.

I feel like I'm definitely asking this question kinda late, but I was wondering what some people have been getting their new 2012 135i for? I got mine through BMW Military Sales and I was wondering if I was actually getting a deal with the price. Mine ran for about $45000 new and almost fully loaded. MSRP ran for just over $50000 on bmwusa.com, for the way I got mine, but I'm pretty sure that price changes at dealerships, at least I think so. I was just wondering what that change is. Again I know I'm asking this question late seeing how I've already paid it over half way off, and financed the other half, and at this point am just waiting to get back to the states and pick it up (its still en route). This wait is killing me and I'm honestly just trying to keep my mind from spinning out of control over my anxiousness.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your invoice?

Approx $43,900 and I paid $44,700.
You should be able to get invoice right off of Edmunds or KBB.

Yeah I think I got mine for almost that exact amount after taking off some dealer fit accessories.

My car had a sticker price of $48,170 and the invoice price was $44,700ish. I got it for $45,300.

Wow. so it seems like I really didn't get that much of a discount, Unless you look at MSRP.

If you are within $1000 of invoice I think you are doing fine. Sounds like you were about $800 over? I was at $1100 over until they made a mistake in the paperwork. In one of the coolest things ever, (since the final amount owed was the same) they gave me another $500 off as an apology for a typo. So I wound up at $600 over invoice roughly.

Edit: I reread your initial post. The $48170 I refer to as sticker price is what it would show on the bmwusa website as well. That is also known as MSRP. I am guessing that with the military discount it is a straight % off of MSRP that winds up being near the invoice price. You just get that price with no negotiation. I had to start at the $48170 and work my dealer down from there.

Ahh ok, and did you buy yours straight from their lot or did you order yours?

When I bought my first BMW through Military Sales (wayyyyy back in 96) BMW discounted the basic car by like 15% but you paid full price for options.

I think the view of pricing as if you are happy with the price then its right. I know it may not be the best view but to me it seems realistic.

Yeah, that's still the way they do it. It's been a while since I started paying it off, so I don't remember the exact savings off of base price, but I still can't wait to get in there and drive it. I have been drooling over the 1 series since before they were being sold in the US, and now I can finally get one.

Funny thing is I've ordered 3 BMW's and have never driven the models I've ordered....never a regret.
Order #1 : 1996 318ti Sport - Alaska Blue /5MT ....awesome fun car so tossable...
Order #2 : 2001 325Xi Sport - Steel Blue / 5MT ....150k on it and its still here, getting handed down to our son
Order #3 : 2012 128i M sport - LeMans Blue / 6MT .... I sense a trend Blue / sport / MT i.e. almost impossible to find in dealer stock

I don't understand. If you ordered the BMW shouldn't it be exactly like what you want. Your first statement seems very contradicting. Of course I might not be getting the entire context.

Pretty sure they mean buying the car prior to taking it for a test drive. Or one of the model you are buying. I can say that out of my 4 BMWs, 2 of them I bought without a test drive until I was leaving the dealership on my way home. All were still under the new car warranty so I had no concerns about there being a problem outside of wreck damage. That I did check for pre-purchase.

First one was a 2002 M Coupe that was over 1500 miles away. It popped up on the BMWUSA CPO website back in 2004 and I called and made a deposit on it over the phone. Flew up to Minnesota and drove it back to NC. That was my test drive. I knew I wanted that car. When they were still for sale new I had been able to sit in them a couple times at the dealership and knew from that that the car fit me. Best car I have ever owned and I regret selling it every day. My new 135i is filling in that hole in my heart though.

The 135i I just bought I did not get to test drive before ordering. There were no 6-speed manual to be driven anywhere near me. I did drive a 2009 automatic, but it was not even close to the same drive as my car. At the Performance Center I drove a DCT version for the track portions. Not until I was leaving the Performance Center did I finally get to drive a 6-speed manual 135i. I am extremely happy with the choices I made. Finally got through my break-in mileage today and changed the oil then went out and saw what the car will really do. Holy Shit!! This may very well help me overcome my yearning for the M Coupe.

Nice. yeah I didn't go lurking through dealer parking lots I ordered mine the way I wanted it. Waiting and waiting, for the day, which is speculated to be some time in May, so I can sit in my baby and drive her home.

Sorry, misunderstanding....my point was I ordered those cars exactly as I wanted but had never even test drove the particular model in question when I ordered.
