Now that the 2011 N55 135i is 2-3 yrs old..what issues have you had? Searched this forum and most problems seem to be the earlier years of 135i.
My 08 335i have had its share of wastegate rattles, injector recalls, brake squeals, but no HPFP failure though. Looking into get a 2011 135i DCT M package. |

My 2011 DCT has a low rattle/rumble sound at low speeds, over rough pavement. Haven't had it checked out. I also find that, when I use the Sport mode (button under the shift lever), I get a slight hesitation when starting up from a stop. Haven't had that checked out, either - instead, I just push the shift lever to the left for the power mode - no hesitation there!
Had the battery cable replaced under recall. And the GPS S-U-C-K-S! But that's a programming issue, not a defect. Other than that, really no problems - knock on wood.

2011 135i manual....build date is late 2010. I've only owned it for a month (CPO) but I've noticed three things:
1. Brake squeal at lower speeds. Is this typical? 2. Throttle lag which from what I've read is a result of a software update? I feel like I don't get the full "oomph" from anything less than 1/2 throttle. 3. A metallic rattling upon start up....I'm not sure what this is. Would it be waste gate rattle? I have the BMW PE, so I wonder if that's just inherent as I've had other exhausts on prior cars and some of them rattle. All minor problems, I'm still in love with the car!

It's noticeably worse on a cold startup, and only moderately so at any other time. I was thinking about calling the dealer about the squeaky brakes and my steering wheel is slightly off center to the right (alignment is fine) so when I call them for that I'll mention the rattle.

mine actually does this too. I assumed it was an exhaust silencer because it stops and then the exhaust gets quiet... I dunno. I should prob get it looked at I guess.

My 2011 135i with DCT has been pretty good no major issues expcept for this hesitation when Im going to take off from a stand still. There is like a delay before the car will actually move. I found a post by another member describing the same issue and how he was able to fix it so I am going to try and get my dealership to do the same thing. Other than that its been great and I love it.

Squeaky brakes are not a defect. Check your rotors and pads for wear. Other than that, brakes sometimes squeak.

No issues here aside from a hpfp replaced about 1 year after ownership. About to hit 30k miles sometime next month all good. This has been my most trouble free BMW ever, only 1 warranty trip in almost 3 years. My lease is up in September and I'm really thinking about keeping her since BMW's current offerings don't really entice me at all. But I also wonder about the longevity of N55.

My pads/rotors are about a 1000 miles old, so any noise caused from them being new should be going away by now. I agree that brake squeak is normal to a certain extent, but not like I'm experiencing.

Mine is a 2012, but since it's an N55 DCT, thought I'd chime in. The only problems I've had are the fluctuating idle and poor throttle response (not turbo lag) during slow rolls thru stop signs, etc. However, those appear to be resolved after installation of the "revised" update to the DME software. The SW version from last Oct/Nov 2012 timeframe was updated again in April/May 2013 timeframe. I had it installed both times, the first time fixing the throttle response and the second time fixing the idle fluctuation. Although there has been a lot of discussion about how the new SW neuters the car, I can't tell that it has much negative effect, but I'm stock and don't track it like many.

2011 DCT with 22k+ miles. Running JB4+ 4" DP for 17k+ of those miles and methanol injection for 15k+. Only problem I have is the engine stalling sometimes at low rpm/speed when AC is on and the car isn't properly warmed up.

Edit: forgot to add that mine's a 2011 N55 DCT with about 42k miles. No other problems besides what I noted above.

Could be as simple as whoever installed the new parts not applying anti squeal to the back of the pads. Was the work performed by a BMW dealership?

2012 n55 34k miles and not a problem to date except for the DCT reflash and coding so the launch control will work. Turned out to be a goof when they installed the PPK they messed up a few codes.... .
