AW vs SG
I've lost sleep over this decision...and I still can't make up my mind. Alpine White or Space Gray. I've searched forums for pictures of both, and have probably stared at pictures on my computer for long stretches of time that have started to make my wife wonder about me...
I have settled on the interior....Coral Red w/Glacier no matter which exterior I choose. Currently, I own a AW 335, so I have done the AW thing already...but there was a reason I picked it for 335...because I think BMWs look great in AW. However, I have always loved SG on the 3's, 5's and X5's, and now that it is available for the 135i, it has me torn. What do you guys think?

I feel you on that! I ordered my 2011 135 in LMB with CR interior, but keep racking my brain on if I should get AW instead. I've also been to the color threads a million times! And I always start thinking about AW.
The only thing that strayed me away from AW for a sec was thats almost the only color I see the 1er in, (with good reason, its sexy as hell!!!) and TiAg being over here in Italy, 118s and 120s. So if you dont mind having the same color 1er as 50% of 1 series owners (like I said earlier nothing wrong with it because its sexy as hell!) then get the AW, if you wanna switch it up a little go with SGM!

If you are torn, taking nothing else into account than the color and how if will look and go with your required interior choices, and still think it's a total toss up... Go with AW, and save some $$.
Both are great colors, and I considered both AW and the then SG (Sparkling Graphite).. had a similar dilemma, and went AW. |

Had the same situation.
Ended up ordering the SG with CR interior. White looks damn good, but it is just white. It doesn't seem to have the depth for me. Either way you are going to be happy. |

Go with the AW and spend the money you save on women & booze... or waste it. It's up to you.

It is my understanding the the traditional racing color for BMWs is white. Ferrari's red. Porsche's silver. So if you're undecided and want to follow a tradition, go with the AW & CR.

Youve already decided by now, but Ive had my E36 M3 in AW for 11 yrs now, and she still looks new.. Why is that? Mainly because Ive been compulsive about its care.. But almost as important, I believe, is the AW color.
When you get surface damage in your paint be it moderate swirls, scratches, pebble dings on the hood, or whatever, you usually have to abrade the area with chemicals of decreasing strength, or you need to touch up the area. With the latter, if you have metallic paint, the microscopic metal flake fragments in the touchup paint will never lay down in the same direction as that in the paint on the car.. The result is a slight shading which will too easily show the paint area. With AW in particular, and any non metallic in general, touchups are a relative breeze. Ive even had good luck with 'blob eliminator' type products where you build up the area to above the level of the surrounding paint, and then easily chemically knock it down, with a result you can only see if you know its there. Metallics, Ive found, are just tougher to maintain over the years for these reasons. They may hide some kinds of damage better, but for small paint touchups, id rather have non metallics. And yet, despite this, after having lived with AW for 11yrs, Im seriously considering SGM. Ill proably come to my senses and order the AW, though, when the time comes..

This is the first AW with CR int car that I have had...My previous bimmers have been Black, SGM and RED so I thought I would try this. I do like the white but it is hard to keep clean but when it's clean it looks nice.
On a separate note my wife keep's telling me that white with red interior is a girls car, well she thinks a 135 is a girls car and it's getting on my nerves now |

Thanks for the tips, but yes, I have already decided. Went with SG...I loved my AW 335i, but it was time for a change, and the car is leased, so I'm not real concerned about the longevity of the paint. After three years with SG, I'm sure I'll end up with AW for the next one.

To the OP: I was torn with the same decision too but decided on AW. SG looks good but a little too safe. AW feels like something you would use on a special occasion. AW is not a normal white, if that makes sense...
I used to think white cars = fridge with wheels until I saw AW. |

Had the same dilemma. AW or SG. Went with SG/CR and have no regrets. You really can't go wrong with either. The third choice would've been Le Mans Blue w/Taupe which nobody seems to have.

What do you guys think about these color combos on a 135i M sport? I can't pick
BSM/Savanna/Gray Poplar DSB/Lemon/Gray Poplar DSB/Terra/Gray Poplar DSB/Black/Glacier I have the car on order right now as BSM/Savanna, but I'm a CA so I can change it anytime. I thought about DSB with the new gray, but I think the gray looks cheap. I really want two cars, DSB to look at from outside and Savanna to look at from the inside. P.S. |
