Fantastic! Any noteworthy fails or preventive maintenance you would care to share. I am original owner, 40K miles, now only 3500/year having sworn off dumb commutes.

I haven't had any issues with any major components. Still stock tranny, clutch, turbos, etc. I actually have been following close to the recommended oil change interval by the car instead of the strict 6,000 or 10,000 mile standard some use. I just recently changed out coils and plugs due to a rough idle and being on a Stg 2 tune. If anything, that seems to be the one recurring theme, rough idle. However, changing the plugs works every time. The coils were changed because they had around 80,000 miles on them.

This really "proves" the silliness of some of the recommendations one reads on car forums, about such things as doing maintenance that is more extensive and more frequent than the manufacturers recommend.

I'm not saying that there might not be some value in doing more maintenance, but what I am saying is that there is no "proof" that doing so is of any benefit. There just aren't any controlled studies out there to prove or disprove what some often-quoted individuals suggest. Just because someone has strongly held opinions and writes well and forcefully, doesn't make what they write to be provable fact. How any one car stands up to extended use over periods of time probably has more to do with how the car is driven, how it is stored, where it is stored, and luck, than anything else.

Congrats on your car!

45,000 kms. Owned since new after an epic ED trip. Annual miles are starting to drop due to the overflow of cars in the garage these days.

Seriously? You lucky devil.

I'm assuming you're the first owner of the virtually 0 mile car, but what about the other one?

I can you keep the miles off over that time? I keep telling myself to save the drives for when they matter most but I cant help it sometimes.

I took my 1M out twice today. The first time was to go to a grocery store about a 20 minute drive from home despite there being another grocery store with adequate items and prices just 5 minutes walk. The second time was another 20 minute drive to a clinic even though taking the train would have taken the same time and actually cost less than my parking plus gas.

TL;DR = I try hard to drive my 1M as much as humanly possible.

Anyone here fighting the demons just stop and go out and enjoy owning a masterpiece.

Anyone who only cares about the selling price put it away like canadianbimmerlover and forget you own it.

With much love and affection for all 1M brethren...peace.
