N55 135i, DCT or 6MT?

Looking to purchase a used 2011-2013 135i with either a DCT or 6MT transmission. I currently have a 2007 335i with a ZF 6HP21 6AT slushbox and really want to go with the simplicity and power capability of a 6MT. However, the DCT has a lot to offer in terms of convenience and shift speed. I'm just worried about potential issues down the road.

I do have plans to upgrade to get up to 500 rwhp.

With that said, would you guys recommend 6MT or DCT?

Side question, are all automatic 2011-2013 135's come with DCT, or are some of the 6AT? Is there a way to tell without the VIN?

All N55 automatics are DCT

DCT will need upgrades in order to hold 450+ whp without slipping.

Honestly at this point, just get a N54 6MT if you're aiming for 500rwhp...

The true automatic on the 08-10 was replaced by DCT for 11-13. I believe it’s the same DCT in the M2 based on some of the other threads in here,

I just bought a 2013 135i with the 6mt. It’s the best shifting manual I ever drove. You may have a hard time finding one though, they are actually very hard to find.

Seems like anyone with this mentality is compensating for something. It'll be ok sweety, modern medicine can make your downstairs bits whatever you want.

I have a DCT as it's far superior on track and I assure you I'm male. My wife has a 6-speed for daily use and I assure you she's female (and can out drive you any day of the week.)

I embrace tech that can help. It's like saying I don't want extra horsepower IMO. I have an A8 in the Stingray and it is nearly as good as DCT and definitely faster than someone with a manual Stingray. I haven't had one out accelerate me yet. Our Boxster is six speed manual, but we didn't see one with PDK we wanted and this had pretty much everything else.

I get that and all. I have a DD and like rowing. For overall speed, sure go DCT. But for daily driving, I've always enjoyed the MT.
