Question about E82 Tire fitment

Hey Guys,
I really don't know much about how rims and tires fit on a car and looking for a bit of a hand. I want to get a staggered setup on my E82 125i, however I did a bit of research and they say that sometimes you can have wider and larger diameter rims on a car.

I am looking at the Arc - 8s and want to put the 17x8.5" ET40 on the front and the 18x8.5" ET45 on the back.

Does anyone know if I can do this or would you suggest anything else?

Again I know very little about this subject so please if you could give me hand that would be fabulous.

Thanks

Ryan

The guys at Apex are very knowledgeable about BMW fitments for their wheels. Visit their website them call or email them. You will get an answer. I have the ARC-8s in staggered 18-inch sizes on my E82. What do you hope to accomplish with the different diameter wheels front-to-back?

Honestly mainly just the staggered look is what appeals to me, as I said I do not really know too much about the impact of rim sizes. I believe it impacts and benefits on handling? Would you suggest running an 8.5 x 18 an a 9.5 x 18?
