In other words, once the new oil cooler and lines are installed and filled with oil, subsequent oil changes will require the same amount of oil as a car with the OEM oil cooler. The oil cooler does not drain when dropping the oil from the pan. Keep this in mind when removing the old lines. They will be filled with oil.
Another helpful hint... There are two 8mm allen bolts that sit on top of the oil filter housing, right above the flow and return lines. Once the new oil cooler and lines are installed, you can remove these bolts and use these openings to fill the oil cooler and lines. Now you can pour 7 quarts into the top of the motor any you're done. No guess work. BTW, don't forget to reinstall the allen bolts or you will have a real mess on your hands. Also, If you have a small pump, you can probably suck some of the oil out of the old lines and oil cooler before removing them to help avoid a spill. |
