Has anyone installed a CF spoiler on their E88?
I can't for the life of me find a single picture which clearly shows what one looks like on a vert. If anyone could post photos/opinions on what it looks like it'd be much appreciated. Also, are there any non OEM E88 CF spoilers online? Most places only sell the E82 one.

Some people told me it's the same as for the coupe, other tell me it does not fit, would love to put one on my car. Let me know if you find something.

check aftermarket companies like AC, or Hartage.
If they have an e88 specific model then the spoiler would not fit. I recall iCarbon claimed e88 was the same as e82 for spoiler

Here are a couple iphone pics of mine. I'll try and get some better photos. This is a cheap ebay one and fitment is 98%. There is a little gap underneath the third brake light that you can only see if looking underneath from the ground. And even then it kind of looks like it is supposed to be that way.

How much did you end up paying for it? I've had a look at some cheap eBay ones but they all say that they're for E82s or for both and I'm not sure that they'll fit on our trunk lids. The official ones usually ask you to pick between the E82 and E88 ones.

A friend of mine had the smaller "M3" style lip spoiler on his 135 coupe, and when he traded it, he removed it and was going to give it to me. We tried it on my wife's 128 convertible and it didn't fit right - the rear trunk lip contour is slightly different - although his 135 was an '09 and my wife's 128 is a 2011.

Bringing back an old thread here but anyone ever find a 100% correct fitment spoiler for the E88 convertible other than the bmw oem version ? thought about buying one designed for the E82 and giving it a try but just not convinced ? anyone else using an E82 spoiler on the e88 convertible ?

Same as Xios135, I purchased a used iCarbon and it fits about 99%. You don't notice the side and centre gaps unless you know what your looking for.

Okay going to take the chance with the E82 carbon spoiler on my E88 convertible. can anyone who has fitted the E82 spoiler to the E88 convertible please advise if 3M tape is enough to hold the spoiler down ? also does the spoiler have to sit further down or say further forward on the convertible in comparison where it would be fitted on the E82 which obviously it was originally designed for ?

I used 3M on mine and haven't run into any issues. Regarding fitting, honestly you'll have to eye ball it, but it isn't hard.

I just installed my BMW CF Spoiler...
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1237991 -It came with some black tar-like material that is rubberized. I did not trust even the 3M tape to hold the expensive spoiler on or if someone would try to rip it off. |

Okay thanks again guys for your input, I know a good few owners have used just the 3m tape on its own and everything has been fine but was just a bit concerned with fitting the E82 spoiler to the convertible style boot lid especially with there being a few extra gaps where the tape will not actually be.
Will see how I get on when it actually comes to fitting and take it from there but thanks again for your comments. Last edited by Jono400; 03-17-2016 at 03:32 AM.. |

I've used 3M tape for both of my spoilers, E82 and E88, but I used genuine ones for the correct model car. Just make sure you apply the tape all the way to the very edge using trimming and use genuine tape.
I probably don't recommend trying to fit the E82 spoiler onto the E88 one but I guess there's no harm trying it. Before you tape it up and stick it on, I'd lay something soft over the edge and see if the CF can be flexed into the correction position first. Good luck!

okay thank you also for your comments, yes will see how I get on with the E82 rear spoiler on my convertible, others here have fitted them and have no reason to doubt that they are happy enough with the finished results. read on here off one convertible owner who used a heat gun to mould the spoiler to the E88 shape boot lid, would rather not go down that option but will keep it in mind if I am not satisfied with how it looks as it is.
will report back ! |

Okay my E82 spoiler has arrived and must admitt more than happy with the fitment on the E88 convertible. Have not actually fixed it to the car yet as still waiting on the 3m fixing tape arriving. Okay one question from others who have fitted the spoiler to the convertible if fitting the spoiler slightly further back the boot lid there is no gap above the third brake light and this way the 3m tape will be in contact with the actual spoiler and boot lid along the full length thus giving a good area for it to grip. If I leave it where I think it is meant to be fitted then yes there is a gap above the third brake light but just a bit worried with this gap then there is not much area either side to place the 3m tape.
So okay leave gap above third brake light or sit the spoiler slightly forward and flush with the bootlid and not have any gap ? On the E82 model car is there any gap above the third brake light with the E82 spoiler ?just trying to work out what it should be like ? |

Mine was installed further back and has a gap. If you come close enough and under you can see it as well. Some people are anal, I am not.

Okay thanks again for your reply, so just to confirm when it sits slightly further back there is a total gap under the spoiler again above the third brake light area where the 3m tape won't touch at all ? It is being purely held on by the outer sides of the spoiler ?
If so just hope this 3m tape turns out to be strong stuff ?! |

On my iCarbon spoiler the gap only takes up about an inch on the back for the third brake light of the E82. You can still layout 3M throughout the spoiler.
