New Double Din solution from Metra!

Correct me if I am wrong - but it looks like metra has made a double din kit for the 1 series. I've just seen a press release for a new MOST adapter as well.

There is also an instruction manual I've linked it all below. Dated 1/11/2018

Press release for new turbokit dash kits : https://metradealer.com/news/index/v...0-turbokits-ce

1 Series dash kit : http://www.metraonline.com/part/95-9315B
Seat heater relocation: http://www.metraonline.com/part/98-9306
Instruction for Dash Kit: http://www.metraonline.com/files/pro...-9315B_web.pdf

The radio is a bitter lower than optimal, but this is definitely a plus over a single din only!

edit: MOST adapter is AX-BM90122

First thing is if you have the iDrive screen or not. I don't have iDrive, so I don't know that much about the options to upgrade it, but I think they are all pretty expensive ($800+).

Instead, I installed this single DIN Android headunit:
https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1510420

Single DIN is much easier than double DIN because double DIN requires you to cut some plastic behind the dash (look at the instructions for that Metra 95-9315B kit), and the screen will be located very low. If you try a BMW E90 3 series or another kit that has the screen on top and the climate controls on the bottom, I believe the 1 series has 2 screws on the sides that won't clear the climate controls.

However it is hard to find single DIN headunits with a screen. Ones with a flip out screen like the Pioneer AVH-3300NEX would cover the air vents. For a fixed screen, there's the Joying headunit that I got, the Alpine iLX-F309 ($900), or even the Alpine iLX-207 ($600) might work but the bare metal chassis and screen will stick out from the dash.

Then you need a smart wiring harness to retain warning chimes, steering wheel controls and PDC.

If you don't have Harman Kardon, you can use the PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-BM21 ($120), like I did.

If you do have HK, it uses a fiber optic MOST bus amplifier so you will need one of these $300+ harnesses:

Has anyone officially bought the double din? How was fitment? Were there any issues with the relocation of the climate control? Thank you!
