Creating a MP3 DVD with directories on a MAC
I am interested in being able to play mp3 cds in my car and just got off the phone with my dealer in order to get CIP20 and the mp3 retrofit. Now I am trying to figure out how I can make a mp3 cd, with my apple power pc g5, that displays the titles of songs correctly and allows me to divide the cd into directories for easy navigation...
Does anyone know how to do this? Last edited by AW330i; 02-15-2006 at 06:48 PM.. |

when you insert a blank cd in your burner, the system should ask you what you want to do and one of the options will be "open in finder." choose that and the blank cd will mount itself onto your desktop and will be visible in finder. then just drag and drop folder/files onto it as you normally would. once you're done, just click the little yellow-and-black burn button next to the mounted cd and there you go, your mp3 cd is burning.
as far as ID3 tags displaying correctly, there is software for converting them into version 1.x, which i think is required by iDrive. just search www.macupdate.com for some free utility that does that in batches. hope this helps.

I can confirm what vladinecko says. Mac users don't need any special software to create MP3 DVDs. Just use the finder to create folders on your blank DVD (or CD, for that matter), drop your MP3s in them, then burn.

iTunes will also do this DVD with mp3s. Just select Preferences in iTunes and then click on the "Advance" icon, then click on the create Data CD or DVD, and hit ok. Then all you have to do is burn your favor Playlist with all your music (remember single layer DVD will hold 4.7GB of music) plenty of good tunes. I have done it, and play it back on my DVD/MP3 player at home and it plays just fine (with all the names and artist info). I am waiting for my 330i and update this as soon as it's arrive. It should be here in 3 more weeks (can't wait).
