Considering selling

2013 135is. Black on black. Style 313s. 7sp DCT. ~75k miles. Immaculate inside and out. I'm sure you all know the drill with "is" features, etc.

It's my wife's daily commuter, and apart from the fact that the car is going to waste (she drives it like an old lady) it's too expensive on gas and she's racking up too many miles.

Only two blemishes:
  • A small ding on the door crease near the handle - you'd never see it if I didn't point it out.
  • A slight crack in the driver seat bolster

Recently replaced a headlamp and had the valve cover gasket replaced at the dealer. I just replaced the water pump/thermostat. Includes a new Bavarian Technic diagnostic tool.

So KBB lists the price at between 15.7 and 19.7. How accurate do you think that is for this car?

I'm debating keeping it for myself and selling my E36 5sp to make room, but I just love the E36 and I'd never get what I've put into it.

Photos from the day I picked her up two years ago...

I'd have to say 18 to 19. The "too many miles" comment means it's been driven and always warmed up properly. I bet the oil cap looks pretty clean underneath. Hopefully you have all the maintenance records. Can you prove at least 4 oil changes? GLWS

Thanks. Not sure what counts as proof, but I have receipts for more than ten cases of oil from the local BMW dealer over the last two years. All part of maintaining my BMW "fleet"

These cars don't have much resale value. A friend's GF lately picked up a 2012 convertible for under $10K. I believe it has around 60K miles.

If you can get anywhere in the neighborhood of $15K, take it.

I wouldn't sell that e36.

If you list it on the forum here I think you will easily find a buyer that will get you in the KBB range, and probably on the north end of it.

Car looks to be in great condition.

I think I've made the decision to sell the E36 - not an easy decision. It's a fantastic car in super condition at 210k miles. It got my son through college and we worked on it together (sentimental value). It's been a very reliable daily driver.

But in the end it needs to be retired from daily commuting and go to garage queen status. I don't have the room and don't want to pay insurance (even if I put historic tags on it). I'm maintaining a fleet of BMWs and I need the garage space.

I'm waiting on some parts from Germany (through the dealer) to replace the passenger window regulator and motor, but after that she goes on the block. Sad to see her go...

Bummer, but it makes sense. And replacing it w/ the 1-Series isn't exactly a terrible thing.

Anyone advising you to keep the e36 over the 135is is out of their mind. It's ten times the car. e36's are great and all, can't touch the 135 in any category though.

Replace a 200K+ mile car with a sub 100K mile one, seems to be a no-brainer to me. Sounds like they are just appliances to you; vs doing racetrack duties, etc.

Is that a Leatherette interior on the 135is, or leather?
