New Spoiler

When I bought my 135i M sport I didn't care for the rear spoiler at all... after browsing around in this forum I found a thread on changing it and a link for a good priced paint spoiler. For $75 and painted to match how could you go wrong! Here are several pictures of the process.

sorry for noob question but what is lux? I'm looking to upgrade my lights from the faded yellow to the newer style looking white angel eyes for my 2013 135i

Same here! There's a red one always parked in front of a house on my commute, usually covered. And there's a carbon black 135 that I occasionally see on the road near my job. Other than that sightings are extremely uncommon.

Had a little fun (kidding, working on these cars sucks, always) while working from home today.

Gloss black grilles FINALLY installed, added tricolor ///M vinyls, and swapped my ugly stock halo bulbs for CREE LED's. I got the LED's on eBay so judge away but they were less than $30 shipped so if they don't work in 6 months I won't care. Here's the link if anyone is curious, they are true 6500k CREE LED's from what I can tell, and no weirdness with the voltage.

Stock left, LED's right:

Terrible pic but they look a million times better:

Grilles and vinyls installed:

Wasn't sure how I'd like it but I'm very happy with the look.

They look good. But remember the worst case isn't that they stop working. The worst case is fire.

I'm actually debating just pulling the front bumper off & taking the lights out. Front bumper is only, what, 10 minutes to get off the car....
Best to do it that way. Makes the install easier and you have the peace of mind.

Agreed. I didn't need to do this with mine, but was definitely prepared for it.

How many miles you have on yours now? I would hope your paint condition is in tip top shape with all the waxing you do!

Been eyeballing this rear window spoiler... haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. Still debating, concerned whether the lines will be something I'd like...

Terrific weather today, so two coats of wax were in order.

And I replaced the three individual stripes on the trunk and front lip with a single tri-color motorsport stripe... Much nicer looking.

tl;dr: Today I installed a SmarTop control module for my convertible so I don't have to hold the button down constantly and it's awesome!!

I've been holding off buying a SmarTop control module because it's hard to justify $350USD on a device that essentially just saves you from having to hold down a button for 30 seconds, especially since I have comfort access so I can use the key fob to operate the roof of the car - but last week I lashed out (I figured if I can afford $1,000 to fix a bloody headlight, I can afford $400AUD to deal with a major annoyance I had with the car).

It cost 240GBP delivered to Australia, since it seems it's cheaper to buy from a Porsche performance parts shop in the UK than it was to buy from mods4cars in the US directly, and following their instructions it was a dead easy install that took about an hour.

The hardest part was removing the headrest covers from the top of the back seats (that was actually a bit of a bitch).

I've gotta say, it's awesome. I live in a climate where I can drive with the roof off almost year-round, but whenever you park you need to put it back on - so you're always sitting in the car looking like an idiot holding the button to move the roof, standing next to the car looking like an idiot holding your key watching the roof operate, or trying to negotiate reversing into or out of a carpark while holding down a roof open/close button. No more!

Also, comfort access was great when it worked, but it had this nasty habit of not registering the unlock/lock hold - so you'd lock the car, stand next to it and hold the lock button, wait, wait, take your finger off the button, press again, wait, wait, then watch for 30 seconds while the roof operated. ... all the while thinking "it would've been easier if I'd just sat in the car and held that damn button."

I've tested the SmarTop remote fob operation, and it works every time. Press to lock the car, the doors lock, keep pressing for four seconds (count to five), release, then walk away as the roof closes and locks. Just awesome.

And as a little bonus extra, that button you press to take all the windows down at once, now can be momentarily lifted to bring them back up. I've got to say, that was never a major annoyance (those windows operate pretty quickly), but one of those things you expect to happen, so you're driving along, you flick the windows up, they go up a little, then you remember it doesn't work like that and you pull the button again... now it does work like that.

Considering I didn't get much change for US$350 when I asked the dealer to re-associate my keys to the car so both worked with comfort access, I'm really happy to have spent the money on this mod.

Would recommend it 100% to anyone with an E88.

Tossed in the Cree AE's today.

Pics from the phone don't do em justice. I was pleasantly surprised to find the LED's are oriented to the fiber optic pickups- nice touch. Whole install only took about 40 minutes, of which I spent about 20 cussing & trying to get the passenger side back cover reinstalled properly. The rest was easier than expected.

*Edit to add an additional 2.5 hours to the install time... Despite my initial efforts the passenger side cover wasn't fully tight, resulting in an adaptive headlight code after washing the car. I had to pull the bumper, pull the light, hair dryer to remove the moisture, reset the cover properly this time then reinstalled the light and bumper cover. PITA, but if I had spent another few minutes the first time to be sure it was right....

Watch out for potholes!

My mom ran over one in the X3 and popped the tire. Thank god she was close to home and we had the summer wheels stored in the garage.
