Took my 135i to the Irwindale 1/8 mile drag strip!

Yesterday I took my car to the 1/8 mile track where I live, and it was great. I beat a bunch of cars and only lost to one. MY 135i is FBO with e85 and a DCT. Car ran flawlessly, except that I just could not launch it. I got terrible 60' times in the 2.3 to 2.5 range. The worst part was that I got these times with no wheel spin, thanks to my r888s in the back. My best trap speed was 88.9 and my best time overall was 8.57.

How did you launch? It's too bad we can't brake torque to get the revs up, even with launch control.

I tried brake boosting and pumping the gas, but the car would just not rev higher than 1100. There was also a lag off the line when I pushed the gas, leading to a bad reaction time. If I got a good launch and 60' time, I feel that the car could achieve a low 8 second time or even a high 7 second pass.

Glad you enjoyed it! Irwindale and LACR have historically bad air density, so you'll trap higher when you get closer to sea level. I heard they are demolishing Irwindale, is that true?

ALso, I think there are some videos that people have posted on their best ways to launch a DCT.

My friend told me that they are just demolishing the circuit, not the strip. I did try that method but it didn't work, but I wasn't pumping the gas as hard, as that guy did in the video. Ill have to try his method out again soon. Past the launch, I reeled every car in rather quickly though, only losing to a mustang by hair.

I believe this, I took my manual 335 that was completely stock to the 1/8 mile track a few years ago and got very similar times. I don't have the tickets anymore but I smoked every car I ran including my buddies gt500 and another one just like it. I was getting excellent reaction times and hooking up with a small chirp off the line. Needless to say when I went to the 1/4 mile track I didn't fair so well.

With a better 60ft you should see higher trap speeds and better ETs.. I've seen FBO 135s doing 7.8@92-94mph at that track..
