Would this annoy you
Just wondering what you all think about this or if I am too sensitive.
Took my car to the dealer for a simple oil change. They put 6 miles on my car. I personally do not think that an oil change warrants any type of test drive. Nevertheless, I would be okay with 1-3 miles. But six miles for a simple oil change? That pisses me off but am I over reacting?

I wouldn't be concerned unless something wasn't right, but I'd be concerned about something not being right regardless of the mileage. Just take an extended test drive in an M2 this spring and that should smooth things over

You are overreacting.
To do a proper oil change, the oil has to be at full operating temp, not doing so will lead to sludge build up. I would be WAY more concerned if they did NOT drive it. I usually drive my own car a minimum of 20 km on the highway before doing an oil change. Last edited by MightyMouseTech; 04-24-2015 at 10:28 AM.. |

I get this at work all the time. I work on Acuras. Get customers resetting their trip meters when they drop them off, all paranoid I am going to take the car for a joy ride. Even had a customer hand me his keys saying "Have fun out there on your roadtest" Why would I joy ride cars, where Acura does not sell, or has EVER sold a car that is as fast as my own car. |

Luckily, it looks like our dealership is not being allotted any. Although, it appears that even if we did get any, there will be a special team from head office that will come in to do any work to them, regular dealer techs won't be allowed to touch them. I can only imagine what that kind of servicing is going to cost owners. |

Of course, if someone can spend $150-200K for the car, the cost of maintenance probably won't be much of a concern. |

I think there are just enough (actual) stories on the internet where some wash boy was supposed to "bring the M3 around to the back" and ends up plowing the car into a curb or other stationary object.
I wouldn't be happy about it either but making a scene over a few miles added isn't worth it. Another reason to do your own oil changes... Or, at least take it to an independent garage. You almost never hear about the above stories from anywhere else but dealers. |

Yup. Happened at the Honda dealer I used to work at. Lot jockey taking brand new S2000 out to fill it up before delivery, went through Tim's drive through (doh!) and dragged the entire side of the car along a concrete post.

Where I come from a proper double double is from In-N-Out. And you can get it "animal style," if you want.
