Auto Unlock?

Is it possible to code the locks to unlock once the motor is turned off?
Thanks

I think there's a way to do it without actually coding it

The only coding I have done is with NCSExpert. This is what I changed to get the car to unlock when I take the key out:

KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB > aktiv

I believe you can get a cable and software currently from bimmergeeks to do this.

Jim, Can you elaborate on how the software works? USB stick? Wireless connection? I am in Forest Acres - 2013 128i msport 6mt

I loaded the software on my laptop and then plugged the computer into the car's data port with the cable. I think Bimmergeeks may offer a OBDII to bluetooth device that would replace the cable but I wouldn't do it that way. If the data flow gets interrupted during the process you better have a backup of your software. I trust a cable more than a bluetooth device. The cable has to be fairly sophisticated because it is converting analog signals from the car to digital information for the computer.

You should check out some of the other sections of forums specific to this if you are technically savy. There's a lot to the whole coding and flashing thing with multiple programs some are dealer level servicing and diagnostics, other are specialty software that parts manufacturer's use etc. The very detailed coding is very interesting and powerful, but can also be a bit dangerous if not done correctly.

You can also use ProTool by BimmerGeeks. Order their cable which comes with an adapter to use with your phone.

Basic coding is pretty explanatory and they also have Expert Coding which gets into the NCSExpert type of coding.

As Jim mentioned, make backups.

Their software is more expensive the Carly, but you don't have an annual fee and they update their app regularly and support it very well.

I think there is a good reason to get something easier to use like Carly or ProTool. I cannot imagine anybody actually liking the process that you go through with NCSExpert. But I made a half dozen changes early and haven't used my cable or software for several years now. I may use it next when I replace my battery. When you use it very infrequently, getting the easier to use software may be harder to justify, at least for me.

But if you use NCSExpert do not permit your family to interrupt you during the process. It is not intuitive and if you get lost you could create a bunch of work for yourself to recover.

I will probably use NCSExpert again next time I do any coding. It works, it is just not the easist to use. If I was to buy something additional, I would look hard at ProTool. I do not care at all for the Carly approaching of charging annually for the software. I'd much rather put up with NCSExpert than pay yearly for software.

With Protools and NCSExpert both using the same cable interface you can also get the no additional cost NCSExpert and see how much it bugs you. If you are unsuccessful or it's too much hassle, you could upgrade to Protools.

Isn't this just an option in the normal door lock settings?

+1 for Pro-Tool. It's what I have and used to program my doors to unlock when turning the engine off.
