Anyone know if this is compatible with the N51 (SULEV version of the N52)?

Mum's N52 equipped X3 just ran out of warranty. I'm thinking of installing one of these just for kicks - and to see if she notices anything without me telling her.
Not sure if you boys are looking for some independent testing but I'm here to take one for the team.

Better to install this out of warranty? And how does this affect the current warranty of the car (via flashes and what not) is it hidden or does it leave a trace for BMW to pick up on their side.

Just ordered mine from Mike! Great guy!! Right now, I think I'm just going with a drop in filter and see how it goes. I'm not really in to intakes and I think the engine sounds great as it is.

I installed the powerbox yesterday. The install went smooth, no CEL's. I have to say that there doesn't seem to be a difference at all though. I know the instructions say to let the ECU adjust for a couple of days, but I'm just wondering if there is a noticeable difference. Also, can I be absolutely sure that it is on map 3 by default?

I'm thinking about taking my "powerbox" out already. Even after making sure it is set on map 3, there is little difference in power or throttle response. I'm probably gonna go with the AA flash or wintertuning flash

Installed mine this weekend and there is a "noticeable" difference in response time of the acceleration. Not only does it not lag, but "D" feels more like DS with a kick. And DS feels a little upgraded!
So far I love it! Best little mod for the N52 engine. |

Hmmm - it seems like most of the people who really like this are AT drivers, as I often hear references to "D" and "DS" modes. I see one 6MT owner seems unimpressed. Any other thoughts from 6MT owners?
It may be a moot point, as I'm a little hesitant to mess with my engine's timing, etc. Throttle re-map is the most desirable thing, IMO, but even that I'm not sure is worth it. |

I would think that most AT drivers benefit the most since we don't have full control over the acceleration as MT drivers do. Starting in first gear rev up to the torque curve get the most acceleration necessary. So its not that the PowerBox isn't working... its because we see a "noticeable" difference in the timing rather than the MT guys.
Us AT drivers, correct me if I am wrong, have somewhat of a delay from the time we press the accelerator pedal to the time the engine starts to go. The PowerBox eliminates that small hesitation. |

For the money, its a great bang for your buck..
Driving in "d" is actually very pleasurable now, as opposed to before due to the throttle re-map. Its the timing boost that really opens this car up but only on the TOP END. im guessing above 4 k the best way i can describe it is, like in the olden days... the car gets up on the cam sooner, hence what seems as a faster accel being that it revs more freely. The Butt dyno is where it's at.. coupled with a few other enhancements i recommend this for us lowely 128i 6AT owners in a heartbeat..

Install is not terrible. Took me an hour and a half being careful so as to not have to go back and tamper with wires to fix my ECU !! |
