installed AFE stage 2 CAI sealed box

its been over 2 weeks that i have installed the AFE CAI stage 2 sealed box and i know that the car has turbo lag ever since BMW upgrade it but have noticed the turbo lag more now, then it was before . but the car feels better then stock box at low speed slightly but alot better on higher speeds.

Characteristics of 'open cone' filters, worse in the low RPM's but much better in the high RPM's provided airflow is sufficient as they can shify much more air. B comparison though, the N54 air box is actually pretty good and the paper filter isn't bad either so I guess perfect middle ground is a MS or BMS drop in filter and some scoops.

It's a compromise really.

great post, i think thats a spot on description of open intakes...down low you loose that 'tight' feeling of boost spooling, and if youre stuck in traffic the car will feel a bit lazy. but at higher revs its not even close, a good dci solution is much stronger imo. I also agree the OE box isnt half bad, for stock boost i wouldnt replace it.

over all the car feels better throttle feels better. I also have the charge scoops a tune will simply make even much better
