Not sure.
The input shaft seal was leaking when I first installed the LSD
and Mfactory repaired and shipped it back to me in one day after
receiving it. Good company that stands behind their product, but still have to pull it and pay for shipping to the west coast and back $$$.

Well, glad I didn't scratch the LSD itch I had about a month ago.

Still, super stand up company.

When I reached out to MFactory today, they told me that the recall was on the allen bolts for the LSD unit.

Here's a photo from a e90post member that possibly triggered the recall http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...97&postcount=4

Damn, I can't un-see that now! Looks like a major problem.
Any hard launches or tracking with your LSD or just spirited street driving?

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the post above was my diff. It seems like it was one of the diffs that triggered the recall.

However, I do believe that I am part of the recalled batch and am currently in communication with MFactory. I have a 128i, but my part number and production date range matches. I've done a few track days/autocross events and haven't noticed anything abnormal so far.

Thanks for posting this on the forums though since I never received any notifications from MFactory.

Got a email from Mfactory that mine does not have the faulty bolts.
Everything seems to be working just fine.
Hope this is limited to just a few

Received another email yesterday from Mfactory after telling them I haven't noticed
any problems with mine. Will do this in the next week or so.

"that's certainly good news that you don't have any unusual noises.

if you get the chance, to be on the safe side, if you try jacking the car up, put it in gear and drive slowly (i.e let the wheels turn) and see if you can hear any rattling noises coming from inside the diff."

I got the same E-mail. My LSD was installed on 04/2015. Production date 02/15, so it falls under the date. I only have 1100 miles on my diff and have had no issues. No track days or autocross, but some high speed acceleration, braking and cornering to test the diff. Even slid around a few corners.

I did what they said, initially upon the car getting jacked up and put into drive and I had a loud grinding noise, not sure what it was. Never had I heard it before and I know I would have noticed it earlier. I immediately put it into park, then drive again. No noise at all. I tried to replicate it again, and nothing. Which is good and bad. I can say I'm slightly concerned. I then took the car out for a drive, pushed it really hard, hard acceleration, braking then slid around a few corners, no issues. I then drove slowly with the windows down listening for any noises, nothing. I may jack it up one more time, have a friend hit the gas and get under the car and listen up close.

I have my first track weekend in two years in two weeks, 4 hour drive. I'm a little worried, but at this point without any other symptons no much can be done. I guess I'll monitor and go from there.

There was a group buy (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1000037) on MFactory LSD's on this forum, looks like those diff's bought during the group buy will fall within the recall dates. Which includes mine but I have yet to receive an email.

Thanks to the op for the heads up. I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen a comment from MFactory on this forum about the recall, unless I missed something.

My LSD install was a bit messy and resulted in my car being off the road for 5 months while I waited for a pinion bearing, not looking forward to having to spend more time/money on my LSD.

So I jacked my car once again. This time I had a friend come over and I crawled under the car to take a closer listen. Now that grinding noise was heard again, but only when put into drive the first time after a cold start. Even then it's not every time either. As before my friend came over I tested it myself, and there was no noise. The sound has never happened before, only the last 3 days when I been testing the diff as advised by M Factory. You think it has something to do with the release of the parking brake as the car is in the air? Anyone have any thoughts?

I guess you need to isolate it to the diff first, there can be a slight grinding noise from the rotors or the ebrake. I haven't been driving my car for a while because of the airbag fiasco, but i guess it's good to find out now rather than later.

I bought a complete pumpkin from ECS tuning in June of 2015. My MF-TRS-05E92 unit had a build date of Feb 10 2015. Because I did not buy it direct I wasn't registred with MFactory and didn't get the email, and nor did I notice this thread.

After about 19,000 km I recently noticed a slight leak from the diff and assumed it was from a flaw the rear cover sealant. I removed the diff to reseal it and was surprised to find the fluid to be severely contaminated and to find 3 bolts rattling around inside. The leak was actually due to a crack in the rear cover where the bolts had been flinging against it.

The good news, MFactory responded promptly and positively and instructed me to send the unit back to Synchrotech for warranty repair. Synchrotech's teardown confirmed the the defect was covered by warranty, and the unit is on its way back to me.

Thanks for the good service MFactory and Synchrotech.

No one who has had warranty work done directly by MFactory/Synchrotech have had their replacement units fail. If they have, then they have not contacted us about it.

Yes, I believe they haven't contacted you. They are selling the broken unit as is and letting the new owner deal with the warranty claim this time.
