Cool I've received approval to get back any parts I want, so I'll post a list of everything being replaced once I have the final estimate and offer things up.

So I guess it's a complete lost?

When I purchased mine, it came with a front end collision. $22k in repairs. That has the accident with only 3,000km on the ticker. BMW took it in themselves to get repaired since it was still new. When I purchased it, I put in on every machine I could point and think of, from the body alignment to how the spacing between the fenders and hood fit. They did an amazing job, but the cost of the repairs was that BMW tag, over $5k a headlight and both needed to be replaced.

Not a total loss as of this time. If the repair bill hits $15k it likely will be but still sitting at around $11k total. VERY much hoping it doesn't go up!!!

$5k a headlight is insane, I think this shop is charging about $600 IIRC. This is a certified BMW collision center so I'm confident in their work, it's just mind blowing how expensive it is.

That's ridiculous, anyone in Congress looking at price gouging a perfectly reparable automobile? No.

Update!! Total estimate has been finalized and adjusted down to $9,000. Car is not totaled and I am so very relieved. More details have been added to the original post.

Time to start the rebuild!

Man, you've been through the ringer with this ride over the past 6 months. Here's to better luck for the rest of 2017!

Well, $9,000 is a lot better than $11,000, or more.

Glad it wasn't totaled. Now you'll be staying with us instead of going over to M2 forum... for the time being, anyway.

Did you get a rabbit's foot yet? Haha

For sure man, it's been a rough ride, pun intended. Thanks for the cheers I'll drink to that!

$9,000 is so much better! Very happy with the way the shop has taken care of me, I'm going to get my adviser a bottle as a thank-you.

M2 will have to wait but, funnily, I saw one on the road the day after you made that post. So TECHNICALLY there was more M2 in my future thanks to your post LOL.

Did you order the headlights from Autowin? There are some sellers on eBay selling the same LCI Euro headlight as well.

So I've not yet seen an M2 up close and personal. Not on the road or at my local dealer. Was it pretty cool? Could you hear any exhaust sounds? What color was it? Tell us, tell us, tell us ! I really like it in LBB but think it looks good in all the available colors (at least in pics).

I decided not to order them as the cost for the set was more than the repair estimate for the one headlight. However someone just messaged me about a used set for sale so I may jump on those if the price is right and they are Adaptive LCI's.

Haha ok ok, in classic auto-journalistic-style:

Q - Was it pretty cool?
A - It was super cool.

Q - Could you hear any exhaust sounds?
A - I could hear a little, but the driver was being very easy on the throttle.

Q - What color was it? ... I really like it in LBB but think it looks good in all the available colors (at least in pics).
A - It was, indeed, in Long Beach Blue, and it looked GREAT.

I'd like to know how the front bumper works out. I really want one, but also want to make sure the brake ducts work. Not sure how much of a pain that will be or if it is plug and play. Also wish the side grilles didn't have those fog lamp holes. But other than than that d really like that bumper.

I think this pic really showcases how good it can look on a 135i (pics won't link due to m o d b a rgains being in the URL... attached instead):

I'm going to do the work on the bumper myself, so I'll of course document it and let you know how it goes!

Car is all fixed up mechanically and is going under the knife for body work and paint. Also, hood and hood pins were delivered and I cannot wait to see them on the car. Shop is saying it will likely be done next week!!!

In the shop!!

New Seibon Hood - absolutely gorgeous finish. I've decided not to paint it for now, we'll see if that changes once I see it on the car.

New hood is on, work on the fender has begun, and car will go for paint soon. After paint the windshield will be replaced and then it will get a mechanical shakedown to test all the replaced components. They will also check all fluids and make sure everything passes inspection before releasing it to me. Still on schedule to be done this week!

Damn, that looks sweet- how's the reputation on the clearcoat? I'd probably leave it clear till it starts to fade or yellow, then color match, but have never owned any real cf so just winging it here...

I'm inclined to agree that it looks great without the extra latches, even flush mount expensive units. Then I watched the guys hood latch fail on Jalopnik this morning and. well... yeah, hood latches aren't so bad...

I think that CF hood looks good the way it is too, and yeah, after watching that hood go up I say go for the latches. With your luck going the way it has been going, YES, get the latches! Just to make sure.
