1M Exhaust Conversion

Hi,

I am now undertaking the process of fitting a 1M exhaust to my 135i/1M conversion as there are no custom muffler options available. No problems as custom means issues come replacement. Below is TUN3D's parts list. Can anybody assist me with what is needed for Aussie spec cars as I believe our setup around fuel and canister lines are different.

Thanks in advance.

Firstly, I'm not sure I'd do the 1m conversion if I was doing it again. It restricts you to 1M muffler setups or a much more complex custom setup. I think it's be possible to do a decent quad tip setup around the OEM battery tray. I'll have a look for a pic of a good one I saw if I can find it again.

As for the conversion:
None of the evap cannister stuff is needed on Aus cars. A sharp stanley knife and a heat gun will get all all the lines connected to the cannister in the new position. Getting the lines back onto the canister spigots is a PITA but less hassle than routing the replacement lines forward.

For the battery relocation I just lengthened the OEM lines with same gauge welding/amp cables and big high quality crimp connectors.

You really just need the battery tray, heat shield and a new battery hold down bracket & long bolt. I'll check those part numbers & update.

You can just see the evap cannister in this pic. It only moves about 20cm forward to fit the 1M tray.

Thanks really appreciate the response. Want to do the 1M mainly as I want it muffled. If you have those part numbers that would be great. Does PiTA mean difficult?

Battery hold down parts:
#2 Hex screw with collar: 07147211160
#3 O ring: 11421284113
#4 Battery hold down 61217631587

PITA = Pain In The Arse. I usually reserve this term for those jobs where it's just awkward, frustrating, not relieved by having better tools and just generally annoying. Getting the lines on the canister and the axles back into the new hubs were the biggest PITA jobs on this project...

Regarding the exhaust, the N5x really doesn't need much muffling. Mine would have been tolerable with no rear muffler at all and a few people are running straight pipes & things like the Meisterschaft 1M system. The straight through system I have now (Megan Racing- the one in the pic) was very quiet on the N55 and is even ok on the S65. I'd say one small straight through muffler like the one in that black quad system would be fine.

There is plenty of room but the battery hold down points are spaced to suit the OEM battery.
