Did anyone manufacture Titanium Downpipes for the N54?

Hello world!

There is a guy local to me selling what he claims are titanium downpipes, but he doesn't know of the brand. Also, one of them has a dent near the flange that mounts to the turbo, and I thought titanium was stronger than that? You can't scratch titanium, its density is far less than 304SS, etc etc.

Regardless, I couldn't find much information on titanium downpipes for the N54 and even then he is still asking $300.

I'm a big believer in the phrase "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is," so does anybody have any info on the topic?

Akrapovic's turbo back is supposedly titanium, albeit the downpipes probably retail for much, much more than 300

Yeah the guy said they were over $1000 new, I'm going to be doing my turbos at the end of December and figured this would be the time to do downpipes, but you can never be too sure these days.

I'm meeting him today and I'll post on here if they are indeed titanium or not.

Picked them up regardless, I do not think they are titanium but I talked him down in price! Picks to follow, no obvious brand markings anywhere on the DP's themselves, maybe someone can confirm if they are a specific brand?

I'll post the weight once I get my hands on a scale!

If there are bends and no welds, not Ti. Ti can't be bent. It'll be all welds for the curves.

And there is zero weight savings. The SS DP's weight maybe 2#.
Buy them for the function, not anything else.

DP pics

Here are the pics, I haven't had a chance to weigh them. Not that DP weight really matters in the end, but it is still fun to talk about!

Well, the density of Titanium is 56% the density of steel, and yes Titanium can be bent (google?) That being said you are correct in that it was a good deal and I did buy them primarily for function.

2# steel minus 56% = 1.12 lbs weight savings. woot.
