Def agree! Not new to the M world but i must say that the 1M has given me the most daily driving satisfaction out of all the M range...at least the ones i have experienced. Uber fun to drive and def worthy of the M badge!

Welcome buddy! I am in HK a couple times per year and will try and spot the 1M's there. I will be there for two weeks in May going in and out on my way to Beijing and probably Bangkok or Taipei. So, if an American stranger comes over to your car, it's probably me!
Congrats! You're going to love this car.

Welcome !

Poisoning? All things ///M is quite a contagious virus.
Some enthusiasts even designed an ///M coffee table with a retired E39 M5 engine.

Einser M...

The traffic isn't too bad here compared to other major Asian cities. Road conditions aren't the greatest but it will never hinder my decision on owning a performance vehicle. I feel that its the perfect car for HK. Small, agile, quick, and damn fun to drive even in the short commutes. I moved to HK about 6 years ago...born and raised in Canada and moved to Germany for a year so driving in HK required some adjustment. Mainly having extreme patience for the obnoxious taxi drivers...there is no road courtesy here! Otherwise, the mountain roads are a blast to rip around in the late hours! The 1M gets a bit of attention here as there have been many tuned Porsche's and Ferrari's tailing.

Will be posting pics next week....

HK is a beautiful city with many interesting sites, food, and smells...i'm sure you know what i mean! The night skyline of HK island from Kowloon has got to be the most spectacular scenery i have ever seen!

For most, automatic or semi-auto transmissions are the essential option when purchasing a vehicle....really helps with the resale value. However, for die hard drivers manual tranny is always the weapon of choice...there is no substitute. 2 of my cars are manual and 1 S-Tronic for the wife, but she also enjoys spirited driving in the 1M.

Yes, a bridge to Macau is in the planning and construction will commence shortly. It will have a special license procedure as like in China. However, i think they are also planning a large parking complex right at the border so that HK residents can drive up to the border...about a 30 mins commute to Asia's Sin City!

On my last trip over, I went to Ozone which is the rooftop bar at the new Ritz-Carlton in the ICC. They don't mess around with bars there. 118 stories up was the highest I've ever been in a building. I've only been a passenger in a personal car in Hong Kong once in the 30+ times I've been there but I have seen some of the rarest and most expensive marques in the world there. You're lucky to live there. It's one of my favorite cities to live in. I'm always amazed at how quickly things change but also stay the same. I'll PM you before I head over in mid-May. If you can post photos of your car in some of HK's cool areas I'm sure this forum would love them.
