I feel sick saying this, but that is actually pretty good value considering a base 911 starts at 85k.
agreed. Amazing value IMO for a sports car that is up to par with most supercars in terms of handling and overall performance. 7:40 on the ring??? wow

I hoped the gt4 would be turbo'd or atleast 400bhp and a tad lighter.
I may hold out for a gt4 rs to be released.
It's 385ish hp as AP would say it, plus little over 300tq, on a 3000lb or less frame
mid engine, stick like glue, under $90K, and it doesn't need a turbo. If it gets over 400 with a turbo, I wouldn't want it. Oh by the way 6sp Manual not 7...just love it, just little bit of long gearing but..small price to pay for fun

By the way guys, don't underestimate that 3.8 liter engine, I got used to driving turbo cars for awhile, and it takes little time to get used to na 3.8 that I have in my 991. Now I love it more and more, really fun, yes I said fun again, this is the point we buy this baby for.. right? Never thought about depreciation when I bought my 1M, or the 991. Well, to all those lucky guys that is getting one of this awesome beauty ..enjoy in good health.

They say a NBR time of ~7:40, which is the same as a 997.2 GT3. The 991 GT3 is a much faster car. But it is an entirely different kind of car + its ~$60k more expensive.

Also, I think the average Track-day guy will get more performance out of the GT4 than the GT3 due to the mid-engine layout.

If you listen to the EVO interview, he does say 385Bhp is stated and it is at least that... GT cars are always a bit more... So i guess it will be circa 400bhp. I have heard it is as quick as the 991 GT3! Watch this space.

If what you care most about is nurburgring times then go get a Corvette. It is still the best performer in this price range.

Personally, I cant stand styling, the interior or pretty much anything about that car. That said, it sure is cheap and fast.

This tread costed me a lot of money today...
I'm now securely "high-up" on my P car dealership after depositing sizeably today. When I first got wind of this car I was under the impression that it wasn't due to be released till late this year. The last time I was this excited about a car was end Sept 2010 (the start of the slow strip tease).
Now it's that familiar "painful, bliss" of waiting for allocation then delivery.
Thanks guys! Thanks a lot...

You did not just order/buy a Porsche - no, you just have crowdfunded the company claiming to have the highest profit per unit sold of any car company in the world.

Same here. This is one car worthy of replacing a 1M!

Makes me car envy again, but I'm not in a position to keep more than 1 car nor can I stretch for it - then again, this car is a waste until you hit the tracks more often than not. We all know in our sensible minds that on public roads, even the 1M is overkill let alone this. Unfortunately, I would have to be living in the Cayman and not have any clothes to change

Reminds me of the racing adage.

" You can sleep in your race car , but you can't race your house. "

The gt4 might be the perfect car for me as I do love track days. But I would have to sleep in the car in the paddock to afford it. Congratulations to those that can, especially the ones that are able to own both.
