They probably wouldn't look as bad if they weren't butted up next to the HUGE orange reflectors. I can't wait to get rid of those. The plan is to send these lights off to get some nice new Bavgruppe halos but I wanted to get rid of the yellow for now

Yes this. That’s how the actual alpina b3 is setup. N55 twin turbo?!? And the 6spd ZF transmission.

So many are upgrading i'm leaving mine factory, something about OE "angel eyes" BMW classic yellow appeals to me, though i admit the "upgraded" ones are indeed sharp.
When I first bought my car first thing I did was install lux eyes. Got the adaptive headlight code so I took them out and along with reading all the horrors of getting water in the housing I sold them. I upped the brightness of the halogens and somehow I fell in love with them.

You are correct. All N55 135's that were not manual transmission are DCTs. Also, AFAIK there is not a software tune that is specifically for the 135's DCT.

See.. I have been here less than a year and reading all these threads from you guys has me a bit knowledgeable on these cars

You confirmed it, no nice DCT update for us

It can be done via coding/Carly. I plan on cranking the brightness and turning off the corner lights except to signal for turns

Came back from a 1 hour drive on back roads and highway.

I am truly impressed, how a simple suspension tweak/adjustment transformed the car on public roads. The "basic" KW setup is perfect for this, 9 rebound front and back 5 bump front and 6 bump rear. I actually noticed i have less roll and more grip, there is one long sweeping corner i could not take at 50-55kph since i start to roll a lot, i pushed it a little till i started to get roll and saw i was doing 70 kph, which surprised me. Very complement setup.

Hit the A3 and drove at 200 kph (it is pitch black and i do not like road surprises), i experienced no "hopping/skipping", just flat with full confidence at those speeds, it was really surprising.

As far as the vibration damper/absorber on the OE exhaust muffler, below 3,000-3,500rpm is sounds a lot quieter but that NA oompf is still there. Above 4,000 rpm is starts to sounds like the classic BMW I6 NA engine we all know, 5,000+ it starts screaming, i like it. Kind of sounds like a "valve" quieting down (not muting) the exhaust for the city and "opening" it up when you rev it.

I was considering an E46 M3 in the winter, but how the little E82 125i/128i is growing greatly on me, it is such a sweet little machine, i can so see myself having a blast on the track and comfortably taking me home, without worrying about overheating, head gasket or rod bearings (yes yes, i know M cars are really not to be compared on the track i know).

If i continue to upgrade, i am not sure where to go from here. LSD + RSB + Sway bars make sense, but those seats are terrible on track. Considering recaro poles and redoing them to match the interior would be nice and probably cost me the same as the LSD + RSB + Bars, but i will be more supported on track, long journeys AND lose a ton of weight from the OE seats. Also wider tires would be great, but probably next year, got loads of thread life left and would need to think long and hard on spending the same amount of money on maybe 2kg reduction on weight but gain a lot more grip (looking at square 235 or 245 setups). Still unsure, but i am leaning towards the seats.

Glad you're finding the light with the 1'er, it is amazing what difference a tiny little change makes.

I'll be able to report on the difference an LSD makes pretty soon, my last parts landed in New York this morning (a shim kit because my father destroyed a lock ring).

In other news, I painted my differential casing and rear cover.

Did some searching on converting the dual midpipes to a single center Midpipe but can't find a thread that shows all results. Did find one on the 1M but it's not an N55 obviously.

Going to get a quote next week to do it. Was thinking about actually converting to use a downpipe like the M2 has with a single exit and then have full single mid rather than a Y coming off the current Downpipe but not sure the angles are the same. Will measure tomorrow since I have both stock downpipes (N55 135 and the M2) and see if flange on turbo side and angles are similar.

Anyone know exactly the pipe size of the axle back section? Same stock vs M Performance?

Washed the car today and discovered that the car is covered with tiny little black dots that I could barely see, but could obviously feel... Probably overspray from somewhere near my workplace.

Tried to remove them with my fine grade nanoskin sponge, but with so-so results. Looks like I'll have to switch over to the medium grade sponge tomorrow.

Bummer... especially on your Alpine White.

Hope you get them off.

Let us know how it goes.

Put in new intercooler.

Tried to use the fancy up pipe. It does not work with the 335d tank. It's really close though. Maybe a cut, rotate and reweld of the elbow on the charge pipe would work.

And for anyone who does buy and use the ARM up pipe, I'd recommend getting something like this to cover the pipe. It's very close to the subframe and if the pipe balloons or moves over time it could easily get cut through. Should prevent ballooning and abrasions in one swoop.

I think that size should fit over nicely.

I am definitely a 1addict.
Going into a mortgage and living a life with fiance of being debt free asap. We had a nice talk about aggressively paying off our mortgage and making sacrifices. All other debts are paid off in our life.
I still can't bring myself to sell my GTI because I can' bring myself to have the 128i touch the salty roads in winter.

While I love my GTI too, I want to keep my 1er for 30+ years and enjoy every single time I drive it.

Edit: installed new Pirelli PZero Nero GT on the rears, hopefully they will last longer than 13k as compared to my Hankooks.

So you installed a 335D intercooler with ARM's 3" hose upgrade?

335d coolant bottle.

When you do relocated inlets you need to move the coolant bottle from the passenger side to the drivers side. You have the option of using adapter plates and using your stock tank or using the 335d tank which fits really nicely because the 335d has the tank on the drivers side stock; the e82 has the same mounting locations.

I haven't touched the car in two weeks, it's collecting dust, and CBS says should've been 600 miles ago lol, but I just ordered new spark plugs.

Anything else related to them that should be changed?

KWs were gliding over bumps in the first 15k miles. Now, not so much. Still way better than stock, though.

LCI E39 from late 2000 was the first BMW with Angel Eyes. E46's never had AE's.
