And the fact that the 3.0 twin turbo is winning awards makes it real hard for me to keep justifying to myself I need the fuel economy of and torque of a diesel

What is the expected delivery date of the 130i here in the U.S.?

Will the 130i have twin turbos?

130i = 265hp

Price tag = USD?

I called my local dealer and none of them have a clue whether any 1 Series is coming. I'm thinking about just buying a 335 coupe!

Typically the dealers are just there for a paycheck and commission. When I was out looking for my 330Ci the dealer asked me if I wanted a job doing sales for them because I knew more than he did. Pretty sad.

same thing happened to me when i wrote out the terms for the lease on my 335, the sales mananger offered me a job on the spot. i thought about it but i was already making $8.35/hr so i told him no thanks! seriously though, it surprises me that they'd be so impressed by someone knowing what a money factor is, etc. i guess most buyers are just not all that savvy.

yeah im right with you, simply knowing you have that quality of engineering (despite the fact youll remember every time you step on the throttle) would make me warm inside. that much power in that coupe is going to be so much fun.

but isnt this article (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2007/01/...for-us-market/) the first to say we will actually be getting a 3 door in the US? or by "high performance version" do you think they mean the coupe?

That article is somewhat incorrect. The 3-dr is not the first 1-series to hit US shores.

Instead the 135i Coupe will be the first 1-series for the US market. Launch is Spring of 2008.

Looks like the fact that the US is the LARGEST consumer of BMWs in the world is finally allowing us to have some of the good stuff.

N54 engine is standard. No official word on power ratings will be but it looks like it's leaning towards being detuned slightly.

M-sport kit comes STANDARD. The front bumper is VERY reminiscent of the E46 M3. Sideskirts are aggressive and accentuates the flared fenders. Trunklid has an integrated lip spoiler.

6-piston Brembo front brakes STANDARD.

Pricing will be in the $30-35k range depending on options.

Bye-bye E46 M3, HELLO 135i!!!

They most certainly are. I saw them with my own two eyes and it was listed as one of the standard features of the 135i coupe during the announcement at the event held this week.

Holy Shit, they're probably under the options list.

Not an option. The Brembos are STANDARD on the 135i.

BMW isn't messing around with this car in the US. They need to hit a homerun right from the start and this is certainly going to help with that goal.

Hehe, now you won't have to put Brembos on since they'll already come WITH the car!

Wow, this car is going to be very special :roundel:. It feels good that it turned out like this, maybe similar to the birth of a child (I wouldn't know). When I heard about this car, way back in ~2003-2004, I knew it was going to be like special. Like watching LeBron playing back in highschool or Vince Young winning the Rose Bowl .

Yes, I personally saw the US-spec 135i Coupe along with a list of standard features for the US market (moonroof, M-sport package, and Brembos).

Granted, they did not specify 6-piston but when I took a closer look while speaking to staff members, one of them pulled me aside and took me up to the car and showed me the brake calipers - sure enough, you could count the pistons...1, 2, 3 on the outer portion of the caliper...so that equates to 6-pistons total!!

In a word..."Spec-tack-cu-laaaaarrrr!!!!!!!"
