My 650 had a similar issue of excess brake dust, but was on the wheels only not up to the arches. Then I was told it's bcoz the pads r new, and yes it reduced after a couple of thousands on the odo.

I just sat in a 2012 135i with sports seats and black boston leather and the bolsters seemed tight on me and the boston leather felt abrasive compared to M3 leather. Does your car bolsters feel tight? I am 5'10" 200 lbs... a little pudgy but not much. I didn't see a bolster adjustment either.

Is the boston leather in your 1M a little abrasive too?

I found the seats in mine to be grippy enough and the bolsters enough to keep you in the seat, we had no issue while driving the car. They are not race bucket "hold you in place" but way more comfortable.
