Catching up on the last couple pages!
On the temp topic.. I have always questioned the temp readings. This is what mine always rides at, regardless evening or blasting midday. But then on my girls N55 it's always just shy of the 250 mark.. And gas mileage on the 135i is usually 21-22 with a heavy foot, cruising on highway I can get it to 24 mpg. The M2 was doing 26 on my road trip to Atlanta but it was not tuned. Just DME adapting to the mods. The 135i you get on it and you see the fuel flying back

Got the whiteline subframe bushing inserts put in this morning. I was going to do the 2 piece bushings but it was going to have taken a lot more time and I needed my car today so I just had my buddy do the inserts for the time being. He quoted me a very good price to do the 2 piece bushings so I'll probably wait until I'm ready to do brakes and coilovers/springs and dampers and get them all done at the same time. As for the inserts, I'll be honest- I don't feel much of a difference. It does feel a bit harsher but I haven't felt much improvement in handling. Idk if that's because of the runflats. I didn't get a chance to drive it hard yet but I will tonight and that should give me a better idea. Since 08/01 I've gotten my LSD put in, chargepipe and BOV, and subframe bushing inserts. Pretty solid reduction in my "must have mods" list. All that's left is suspension, FSB, and M3 front control arms

That's quite interesting, you're running temp is much lower than any other 1er I've seen. The two i've owned and every One I've driven was always just under the 250 mark. Very curious if your gauge is reading right, have you checked with an OBD app or otherwise? If it's accurate, we must get to the bottom of the lower temps so I can get whatever you have lol. These cars overheat so fast on the track!

Sounds like time for some logs with oil temps recorded...
Those oil temps aren't unheard of- here's mine spread across a 4 minute log. Graph showing oil temp and boost... *Edit to add: worth noting that I run the 1M rep bumper with ducting, so my oil cooler sees exactly a metric butt ton more air flow than your average 135...

I had just been boasting recently about how I loved having a very modified single turbo car with no warning lights on the dash. The very next day, while in heavy rain, I received the Adaptive Headlight error warning. It had popped up a few times over the past few years, but went away. This one, however, was here to stay. I fully expected to find the seals on my back cover compromised and condensation in the lenses, but this was not the case. Both headlights were dry, the LUX modules were secured as to not interfere with the motors, and all the connections/ball joints were still in place. I was not interested in tracking down replacement parts for a function of the car I didn't use, and I'd also been considering hiring someone to remote code the car for some additional functionality, so I seized the opportunity to contact Joe at Top Gear Solutions to help me out. I'd worked with INPA before, but didn't feel comfortable with NCSExpert enough to attempt this one myself and mess something up.
I already had the cable and a laptop dedicated to BMW Standard Tools, so the only thing else I needed to do was download Team Viewer (remote access software) and have a reliable internet connection. I made payment at almost 5pm EST, scheduled an appointment for the very next morning at 10am. For $89, I would be: coding out my AHL error, and adding auto close windows uninterrupted while opening door, disable key in ignition door chime, open/close windows and sunroof with fob, and display digital speed. At 10AM the next morning, I connected to the internet from outside, while I was at work I may add, I set everything up, turned the ignition on, and texted Joe the Team Viewer access code to let him know I was ready. Then I went back inside and continued with my work. Less than a half hour later, he texted me saying I was good to go. I went back out to the car, disconnected the computer, tested the functions, and was very happy that the giant intrusive AHL error was gone, I had the digital speedometer to look at, and added a few preference features to boot. Everything couldn't have went smoother. I highly recommend this remote service if you don't feel great about coding yourself. Along with the digital speedometer, you can also see my beloved 1er is about to roll over 115,000 miles on the odometer. To commemorate all these miles, I've started to ramp up the boost on high concentrations of E85 |

I'm looking to go ST, but at this stage retain stock fueling - so for a peak power of less than 500whp. Looking at a PS2 or RB dyno graph vs ST - there seems to be a lot more 'area under the curve' with a twin setup; despite the higher peak numbers (and overall ease of service and better reliability) of a single. But what you can never find out on a dyno, is if you're cruising along in the wrong gear and you see a gap in traffic; if you do a quick 'downshift and floor it' - does a modern twinscroll spin up almost instantly like OEM twins, or are you left with (what I like to call) "subaru lag" and a flurry of power 2 seconds later? |

And what kind of ducting are you running? How are you feeding air to that oil cooler?

I 100% second this. I had a bit of a laughing fit the first time I hit it with the catless DP.

First 1 was always stock, this 1 was stock ducting till I got the 1M rep, since then no direct ducting anymore and zero difference in temps.

So grab the 1M ducting... And enjoy your own metric butt ton more air flow than your average 135... It's an easy way to direct some serious air flow to your oil cooler, and it's crazy not to.... At the very least it looks awesome and it's inexpensive... Here's the link to my log in datazap.me, since it appears we can't attach csv or xlsx files... https://datazap.me/u/1and1/log-15344...0&data=3-20-22

p.s. I've been considering buying a catless DP for forever and your thread about gutting your stock one has inspired me to do it too! Just need to find a good time and place for it.
