AC running warm

The last month I have felt the coldness of the ac going down. Still runs full power (which isn't very string IMO).

Today it's gone completely just blowing ambient air!

Cars over 163xxx miles. Can I just buy one of those cans and refill it? It's too hot to have a fan in my car and I really would like to do a DIY if it's possible!

It is inexpensive, so give the do-it-yourself refill a try.

I might, but my local shop quoted
$150 for a full purge and refill I'm heavily considering it.

You want some sort of gauge so you don't overfill; even the cheap little parts store low-side gauge is better than just dumping a can in and hoping. Look online and you'll find charts giving desired pressures at specific ambient temperatures. The capacity of the system is fairly small. Be sure never to invert the can while filling or you can slug the compressor (liquid does not compress).

I measured the outlet air temperature and watched the high and low side gauges. The high side pressure was a little low and the outlet temperature on the left side was near ambient. As I added a little R134a you could see the outlet temperature drop and the high side pressure go up. After adding about 8 oz the outlet temperature was about 60F.
