Dinan exhaust -- any experience?

So Dinan has their M exhaust systems on sale for the month of October at 15% off.

Does anybody have any experience, good / bad / meh, with their 1M muffler?

Cost is preventing me on the full Akrapovic system, but I'd like to do something.

Thanks!

I have had good experiences with all dinan products.

They undoubtedly make quality parts but the real question should be what do you want in an exhaust? Slightly louder than stock? Different note? No drone? Or do you want a roaring sound?

Do you have downpipes or mids? All those will alter the way any axelback sounds.

Slightly louder than stock. I am also planning on a N55 mid-pipe.

An n55 mid alone will make you slightly louder than stock -

The can does sit lower than stock, so if you're concerned with how the underside of your car looks the Dinan isn't for you. IMO the Dinan looks no worse than the stock can. As for sound, I've only received compliments.

I installed Dinan exhaust and N55 mid this summer and couldn't be happier with the improved sound, performance . . and looks. The bigger can isn't that different from OEM can and the tips add a high performance look. IMHO, go for it!

Dinan = $2,000 less 15% + $300 for the N55 mid-pipe
Akrapovic = $6,900 (all in, incl. mid-pipe and wireless kit)

Sure, titanium for the Akra, but it's 3.5x as much.

Akra is worth the $ IMO, but each to their own
$6900 is quite a chunk of change for most people. Akra is absolutely a superior product and the craftsmanship and titanium warrant the price but unfortunately for many it is out of their price range. Most people just want an improved exhaust note and do not care for the other features of the akra.

Frankly, $2,000 for a muffler is nuts, so yes, $6,000+ is insane.

The complete downpipe-back system, in stainless steel, with a high-flow cat, long oval-tube section, all at either 3" or larger, for my Volvo V70R (a much longer car) was only $900. The 3" downpipe was another $900.

Work-of-art exhausts in stainless steel for the Mazda Miata, inclusive also of cats and 3" tubing, are less than that.

Exhausts truly are one of those things that the car make has influence on the price. And we're frankly all a little nuts to put up with it.

But, yes, I do still want a slightly more enjoyable tone from my car, so will put up with some cost.

In my opinion, the best sounding exhaust for a decent price ($3k I believe) is HMS. Take a listen..

When I can free up some cabbage, that system is mine.

Look on their website - HMS tuning. They're German based. The video does demo the rear exhaust AND midpipes though. The rear exhaust is valved (like Akra), but in stainless steel. I'll post my sound impressions in a few weeks

Not 3k though. Looks like 3900 plus 900 for midpipes so really almost 5k. Pretty close to Akra.

Thanks for you super intelligent input.
I think if during conversation with the dinan rep, that if he thinks one of the selling points of his system is that they eliminated the drone, ill take his word for it. He didn't claim he made most power or that it was the lightest or best looking or cheapest. No one mentioned this attribute so I did.
What's your problem?
