Courage Update

I emailed W&W to find out the reason for the delay in getting to NY. Here's the reply:

"Dear Stephen,

There was problem with getting power to the steering gear which caused a delay on departure.

Here is the latest information we have received

Please see the latest update for the Courage.

Latest update for Courage is that she will sail from Southampton tomorrow Jan 24th around noon time and present USEC schedule is as follows.

New York 1 - 2nd

Baltimore 3rd - 4th

Charleston 6th

Brunswick 7th

Kim Gajda
Customer Care Manager
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Americas, LLC"

Funny, the W&W tracking site says Courage left Southampton on 1/14. Those other dates match up though.

The Courage must be have some problems lately. On it's last voyage to the US it was also delayed by a few days. I know because my car was aboard it.

Someone posted an issue with a broken down ship on bimmerfest and since the Courage hasn't reported her position in the last 24 hrs...I'm wodering if we have another problem.

I'm wondering if you can check with the WW people again?

The ship is still scheduled for arrival on the 2nd, and W&W has been pretty consistent with updating the schedule when the ship broke down. There have been times before when it hasn't reported in for more than a day while it's been crossing. If she's not in port on the 2nd, I'll shoot off another email.

Ever since Courage broke down, the Science Channel has been showing back to back documentaries of killer waves sinking cargo ships in the open ocean. Time for happy thoughts.

It's here! My car was on the Courage, and I just got the call from the dealer, telling me my car is ready to be picked up.
