Ordered one of the Last 128s!

I placed my order for Euro Delivery of one of the last real BMWs (non-turbo, real steering). My CA says I should be able to pick it up July 12th when I was already planning to be in Munich. Talk about luck! They had to take a 112 status car and modify it to my liking. I should know more over the next few days.

Here's what I ordered:

Mineral Gray
Coral Red
Fine-wood Fineline Stream trim
M-sport pkg
Premium pkg
Cold pkg
Lighting pkg
Harmon Kardon Sound
BMW Assist w/enhanced bluetooth
Anti-theft alarm
and of course, Manual transmission!

Can't wait to get confirmation that I will be picking it up and driving it from Munich to Frankfurt. I'll keep y'all posted!

Looks similar to mine. The Coral leather is really nice, just clean and treat it at least once per year. The M-Sport package will replace the heated steering wheel that comes with the Cold Weather package with a very nice non-heated M-Sport steering wheel. I just ordered Heated Seats because it was much less expensive than the Cold Weather package. The only difference is that you will get headlight washers.

Euro delivery was a blast. We picked it up in Munich, drove through Austria, southern German, France, and dropped it off in Frankfurt. This is the best site for Euro Delivery information: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Thanks for the note. The difference in price between the heated seats and headlamp washers I think is only $150.

My biggest issue now is that I already have my return flight booked and it's on a Sunday from Frankfurt. If I pick the car up Friday I have no place to turn it in because the place is closed Sat and Sun. So I am trying to figure that out now. I also need confirmation that I will indeed get the car that Friday (or Saturday).

Regardless, I won't have much time to drive around. That's ok though, this is totally a last minute addition and I'm fine with it.

Had to look up the Fineline Stream trim - I see it's from the Lifestyle Editions..

Well that interior is going to look nothing short of amazing.

One other advantage of ordering the cold weather package(over just the heated seats) is that you also get the fold down rear arm rest with pass thru ski sack(& washer jets). Heated seats are a must have option over here in Germany.

Two other options I kind of wish I had ordered was rear PDC and HK stereo upgrade. Maybe on my next bmw.

I hope so. The only pic I see of the trim looks good in a brown interior. But coral red? I hope I dont regret it.

Hey...I have a question for you. How much would I expect to pay to have the perforce SSK installed while I am in Germany?

Should be less than 100 euros in labor plus SSK parts. I think BMW's official book time is like 1/2 hour's labor. But when my dealer did my install... they had to drop the mid pipes and install two new exhaust gaskets(20 euros each) so they felt bad and did not charge me any extra labor... I just paid for the two exhaust gaskets.

I think the SSK parts run about 200 euros, but I would really need to check that price. I ordered my SSK parts separately and saved some $$$ (~35 euros).

The Performance SSK is one of the best mods for our cars!

I have the SSK installed on my 328xi. I want it on the 128i, but I think it would be cheaper to do it when the car arrives in the US.

Thanks for the information!

BMW can also do it at the Port(of entry when the car comes here) IF you order it now with your car order.

When the car arrives where? In the US? Or in Munich?

Anybody know what parts can be installed at port (as opposed to locally)? Specifically I'm wondering about:

SSK
Perf. suspension
Perf. exhaust

My dealer is telling me they are all local install, none are done at port. I'm not convinced that's the real answer.

Edit: for US delivery

When the car arrives in the USA at one of BMW's port PDI centers... they can install ANY of the BMW Performance stuff. They even do painting and any transport repairs "in house" before the dealer ever sees the car.

Also when you do ED, any damage like curbed wheels or minor stuff, BMW will repair before you dealer gets the car. Another reason to do ED!

Before you ship your car on ED don't forget to remove the first aid kit, warning triangle and one plate(IF you want to keep them, although some say cars now get thru with both tags).

Yes, all those things CAN be installed at the BMW VPC/VDC (Vehicle Distribution Center)...

The last link is great. Can't wait to follow. I will ask my CA how much it will be to do the SSK and Performance Exhaust at the VPC/VDC. While I won't have it in Germany, at least it will get installed before I take delivery here.
