12 people total were selected, only 1 slot was reserved for bimmerpost members. So yes, it's possible more than 1 of us could have been selected, but only 1 spot guaranteed.

Thanks for all of the congratulations everyone. I'm definitely psyched to be going. It's unfortunate that I can't take any of my own pictures while I'm there, but hopefully I can take some notes for later.

Find some sort of spy cam and peel off all the camo when they aren't looking

I hope Jason has seriously driven an M3, as its a vital point of comparison.

Good point! Jason - go to your local BMW dealership and testdrive an M3 if you can.

better yet... hit up a local forum member and ask to drive their car for a bit. hopefully that forum member tracks their car, and can take you with them to the track. i'm sure almost all our forum members would be willing to lend a helping hand in this very unique situation.

Unfortunately, I haven't driven a E9x M3 but I have rode in a E92 M3 that was driven by a professional driver. My dealer, Ralph Schomp, put on an event where a couple of professional drivers drove around a small course with participants riding shotgun in the M3 and a Z4 35i. Even riding as a passenger, there was no comparison as to which car was more composed and had better grip.
I don't know of any forum members around the Denver area with a E9x M3, but I'll certainly stop by a dealer for a drive. I have driven a E90 335xi (Steptronic), E92 335i (6MT), and E93 335i (Steptronic), so I've certainly felt the "heft" of the 3's compared to my 1er.

Maybe they'll let you drive an M3 in Germany to allow a true comparison. Congratulations. You are living the dream. |
