Thanks guys!

It was my spring break this past week, and my friends were off in Colorado skiing, or across the state doing whatever. I took the time to pretty up the car again.

Tried doing some paint touch-up and giving everything a nice polish. Did not turn out that great.

I used this guide to a T (besides mixing the clear with the base because I have metallic paint). That man is an artist - my base coat went on no problem, but I definitely messed up the clear. Gonna have to wet sand it smooth. Oh well - it doesn't look any worse than when I started!

Gave it a thorough wash and wax. Looks great, but I also got to see how many imperfections the paint has (mainly rock chips - the front bumper is shredded). Hard to be a perfectionist when this is my daily I drive on the highway constantly . Cleaned the INSIDE of the wheel too (next pic is before I did that lol) - damn BMW brake pads dusting it up constantly.

Also painted my calipers blue lol. Looks better in person - the blue isn't that dark. Yes I did it the lazy way, but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I just wanted it to be subtle and didn't feel like tearing apart the brake system for it. I'll probably touch it up when it's time to do pads.

Ordered a Rev Motoring intake tube. Hopefully gonna get some more wooshy woosh noises when I step on it, but I don't expect a whole lot. Just cheap, easy gains.

I think next up is the F10 M5 illuminated shift knob. $200 but it looks GREAT and I wanna upgrade my knob anyway.

edit:

got these coming in the mail too - I have a tint but it really isn't great so instead of redoing it I just got these.

Sunscreens for the rear side windows and rear! I've always liked how they looked so I was happy to hear there's one OEM for the 1.

Also I got my rev motoring intake in! Sounds great - it made the burbles and pops a little clearer and I can hear the induction noise in the higher revs. Idk if I got any more throttle response or power or anything but it's pulling pretty hard for being almost 90° today.

It's just you (or it could be because the photo is rotated 90 degrees clockwise, screwing up the perspective and thus the scale of the objects on the right-hand side of the photo)

Thank god I'd have to sell the car if I found out it was that unsymmetrical

Bad news bears.

The dealer I tried ordering the sunshades from refunded me out of the blue, then a week later sent me an email saying they couldn't actually hunt them down. SAD. I was looking forward to them.

In other news I bought the mudflaps before those became impossible to find!

Edit: Got the fronts from amazon, and the rears from pelican

...

Also I found someone with Style 32 wheels on a coupe. I'm in love. I need to hunt down some, can't decide if I want 17s or 18s.

Latest acquisition. I kinda wanted to order other things like the ZHP knob first, but I needed to get this before it became unobtainium.

I Like the BMW Style 32 wheels as well. Will look very nice on your car.

I've been wanting one of those, but I don't have the stones to cut into the dash, and to be honest, I don't really need the storage space. But still.

I'm treating it like I treat buying mods in the first place. One day I'm just gonna wake up and do it. No thoughts.

Also if you're interested in one I'd recommend hunting one down soon, ECS just removed them, and everyone else says backordered indefinitely.

Edit:

AHHHHHHHHHH

There are some folks that don't like mudflaps on the 1er, but I think they look good. Plus, and probably the reason you got them, they have a purpose. Might get some one day but the way I procrastinate, that could be a very long time from now. lol

How easy is it to install/remove the mud flaps? I'd like to get a set for winter/road trips but don't know that I want them on year round

It was a little harder than I thought but that's because I tried using some of the crappy hardware it comes with. If you reuse the plastic fender liner/undertray screws, it's MUCH easier. You could do it without taking the wheels off, although I'd recommend it just so you have more room.

Honestly buy them now if you think you want them. You can still get the fronts off Amazon ,but the rears are nowhere to be found. I'm talking with a forum member about getting me his old set.

Got CarlyBMW and registered a new battery. Went cheap and just got an H8-DL from Autozone. My old battery still worked (it was from the factory!) but it had its moments where it struggled. Figured it'd just be a good idea to swap it before it bites me in the ass.

Also got a few neat features enabled. 5 blink when you do a soft/half-click on the blinker, disabling the seatbelt warning so I can put my backpack on the passenger seat, etc. It's nice to have a BMW OBD scanner now, in case anything goes wrong.

Spent way too much money for an OBD2 scanner and a battery swap, but such is life when you drive a German car.

The ZHP knob is great as well! Had to remove that plastic clip and hold the boot up with a ziptie (on the inside, trust me you wouldn't notice) but I can't believe what I was missing. The weight decreased the effort required to shift, so now I'm almost 100% back at the original "weight", but with much shorter shifts.

I like it. For $60 it's a nice cheap upgrade.

I really don't know if it improved throttle response or anything like that, I didn't pay too much attention (also since the weather here has been in the 90s F, so my intake temps are through the roof)

It does make good noises though. You can really hear it in 2nd gear, there's some induction noise that definitely wasn't there before. Also my exhaust pops seemed to be slightly clearer. It's as if the engine just cleared its throat.
