DSC and LSD impressions
Delivery of my car will not be until July sometime (or so dealer says), and I'm super curious about the DSC and ELSD functionality. Anyone want to do a test?
I'm looking for 3 reviews on 3 identical hard launches with; 1. All safety/traction systems active 2. DSC button pressed once to eliminate traction control 3. DSC button held down to disable DSC and activate the ELSD. Videos and 0-60 times would be nice too, but more difficult to obtain. If anyone has any experience, it would be great to hear it. thanks. |

Senario:
1: The DTC is pretty intrusive and will limit the power going to the ground at any point when there is a loss in traction (1-2-3 gear). 2: Allows for some wheel-spin, but doesn't allow a lot(if that makes sense) and prohibits any sideways malarkey. 3: Sideways, Smoke, Two black stripes leaving the work parking garage, ect... I've been told that if you get way out of line that some electronic aid will come into play, but I have yet to experience it. Not sure if this answers your questions but it is a start...

This video might show exactly what will happen. Check it out at 3:30. He does a donut that spins both tires, but after 1 revolution 1 tire stops and pulls out smoking only 1.
This next video also shows a guy beating the crap outta his 1er. I know both these videos are reposts but it sounds like some haven't seen them?:iono: Enjoy!:drinking: |

Man that looks like a lot of fun! I wish I had the confidence, and the skill, to do stuff like that. Not that I'd do it often, but it would be nice to know how.
Does anyone know if they teach you how to do that at the BMWCCA driving school events? I might be going to one at the end of June if I get my car in time. Dan |

Thanks guys
it definitely doesn't look like the elsd is slowing it down much. I assumed the guy in the video said "this is what happens when you fully disable DSC" just before he drops the clutch. |

It will allow wheelspin and in turn you can drift the car a bit, but once you get out of line it will start to play with the brakes to get you back in line.

Just got back from a 90 minute test drive
Press DTC button once, the eDiff (DTC) is activated and the DSC goes to "Limited" mode. Push and hold DTC button and it turns DSC off  In DSC Limited mode, a 180 on moist roads was no problem (and more than a little fun) with DSC off, I still had problems keeping the wheels spinning long enough to get all the way around :iono: (Naturally I was being a little careful as it wasn't my car )

4. Replace crappy E-LSD with the real deal. More traction than any of the above, and no BS!

I agree slightly with you, but I really want to see some real-world evidence before I'll make up my mind on this one. Like a before-and-after comparo with track numbers to prove the advantage.
