perhaps a simple dealer list and bimmerpost rating sticky is a good idea in general

(!!!!!!!!)

I haven't read this whole thread but when I bought my 135i (they had to 'locate' it) from ORANGE COUNTY BMW for $299 over Invoice right around the first of August, they offered me a VO 1M to be delivered right.around.now.

Wow.

I'm not saying it's the same one, but it might be. I've been kinda kicking myself for going for the 135i (in hand) instead of waiting for the 1M ($10k more), but....

Well, you know the deal. That's CRAZY.

For what it's worth, I had an excellent experience with them and couldn't say nicer things about how my transaction went down. Love my 135i - almost 400 miles on the clock since 8/4.

Well my CA was pretty good, i can't deny that. And with most regular cars, pretty much every other bmw, i bet their not bad. But this was just F'ed up. The 1M is bringing the worst out of Dealers.

True, but it's also bringing out the best in some dealers. Those who have honored their "hand shake" agreements and worked with clients when they could have chosen to seek a higher profit will be remembered as exceptional. I can think of a few dealers I've read about on these posts who I will be happy to give my business to the next time I'm in the market for a BMW, regardless of how far they may be from my home.

I also think it has brought out the best in the M community - I've seen a lot of guys/gals helping each other out and going to great lengths to ensure that Addicts find their cars.

The bad parts - while truly bad and deserving of a lot of attention - are the minority, I believe.

Sorry, I think the majority had some sort of issue with the 1M. I am not sure of it, but from talking to 1M owners, many were told no ED when they wanted. Many had to take cars that were fully loaded even if they really didn't want it and/or have to pay over MSRP. Some dealers demanded $2000 and higher deposits when they didn't even have an allocation and/or production number. I agree with the poster, the 1M brought out the worst in the majority of dealers I dealt with and I contacted many over the country.

I like your point about us helping each other out and that is true, it brought out some good but it was in response to so much misinformation, lying, callous greed that was the catalyst for that. So yes, there was some good and a few shining examples but over all I see this 1M thing as a BMW dealer mess-up.

Yes i totally agree with you many have had good experiences. But you have to be careful. One dealership deciding to make a little more money could screw you out of a car. Don't get me wrong I'm not done with Orange County BMW just b.c i got my car some where else. Me and my lawyer will still do what needs to be done. BUT that car is already gone. & lets be honest i got very lucky. It was a fluke. I don't think anyone else here found a car on cars.com and got the car 6 hours later. Im just saying be cautious. Not every dealer is a "good" dealer. Maybe I'm jaded but i wouldn't put my money/faith in someone else.

Honestly from what I've seen. There is only a handful of dealers i would give my business too. My family has had plenty of bmw purchases from a nearby bmw dealership. They are great (Hassel BMW). But they were also sold out a while ago of 1Ms. The problem is with the 1M you don't have the luxury of picking what dealer you want to buy from.

I don't blame BMW. BMW couldn't help it since this car had so much hype and limited prod.

BMW dealers were horrible but I'm sorry but i think these dealers that were shady for the 1M, were always shady. Idk maybe it's just my overall experiences but I rate Mercedes dealerships wayyyyyyy above BMW's. Ive never had a problem with them.

I'll definitely concede by giving you the benefit of your experience. I will say, though, that maybe the statement should read "the majority of dealers in the US" - I'm not seeing the same kinds of complaints from other countries. Maybe I'm not reading all of the posts, though.

Why do you think that is? Is it the nature of dealers here? They seem less restricted in "price gouging" than in some other countries...do you think that's the reason? And/or perhaps the fact that the car:enthusiast ratio is low in the US compared to other countries (if that can be calculated)? Maybe other factors as well.

Sorry to jack the thread, just noting my observation. The worst stories I've read have all come from US posters. But I may not have read them all.

My dealer agreed to 500 over European invoice, and at times I was nervous they would do something underhanded. I even started to look for a second allocation in May worried they werent going to pull through. In the end I got the car at the agreed upon price.

My dealership is the next closest dealership from Pacific BMW so their closest competitor was selling at 40k over US MSRP thats 12k over DOUBLE what I paid.

I have to agree, MB dealerships have always taken great care of me from a customer service stand point.

When I went in to pay for the M I asked the finance girl for a water, she gave me directions on how to get to a vending machine.

OK, Gotcha.... I guess I have tons of experience with MB as well using the Kevin Bacon Six Degrees methodology. How many 1 year run limited production cars have you ordered from MB?

Yes but ive had bad experiences with bmw dealerships before too. Not just for the 1M.

And i helped a friend buy the C63 right when it was first launched. Got a good price and had no issues. It wasn't limited production but it wasn't the easiest to get right at launch

Have you had a Benz? If not than you don't know what im talking about. They treat you like a king from the second you walk in and they keep on treating you like that even during servicing. There have been many times where i took my mom's car in for servicing and if a CA is free he'll take me out a test drive in w.e is new just because. MB has given me loaners from any dealer regardless of where i purchased it. A lot of BMW dealers won't do that.
