I want tri color stitching to match my BMW Performance Alcantara wheel and e-brake boot.
If you manage to pull this off I'll owe you a bier. Just show up at the 'Ring to collect...

Fan-freakin-tasitc!
Can't wait to see install pix. Now that I know this is possible I'll just need to track down a local shop that can do as good a job as JPM Coachworks did for you.

I think this thread is full of details.
We just need an install pic to seal the deal.

Pics please. Are you planning on having folks send these to you for your upholstery place to recover?
My is is my daily, so I would need to buy a spare shifter assembly. |

Sorry for the late reply, I didnt see a notification. I dd mine and just drove without the gear selector. I selected gears using the metal stub that is left after you remove the selector and boot. Its fairly easy, just looks dumb. As for getting it done, contact jpm in the first post. They will know what you are talking about since I talked to the owner for awhile about the project. |

Going to contact them now. Is http://www.jpmcoachworks.com/jpm/ the correct site?
I'm coming to the US for a visit so I won't need to drive for a couple weeks anyway. Thanks again for being the pioneer on this. If you ever decide to visit the 'Ring, let me know.

No problem, let me know if you have any questions on the removal. Hopefully I will make a trip to Germany within the next year, if I do ill defiantly let you know. Ill need a tour lol PS. I removed the ribbon cable that runs through a small slot in the shifter. I just pulled the pins out of a plug, sanded open the slot, then slid the ribbon cable though. I then put the pins back in the plug, plugged it all back together without the shifter. Then drove it perfectly for the next week! |

Everything is set. Just waiting till a day or two before we leave for the US to remove everything and ship it to JPM.
Not sure I understand the part about the cable but I will once I start taking things apart. Any additional info about the disassembly is greatly appreciated. And of course I'll give you props for being the first to do it. I referenced this thread when I contacted JPM so you'll get "credit" for referring all of us to them.

Any additional detail about the disassembly of the shift lever/knob would be appreciated. I'm so stoked to have this done. If I weren't going on holiday next month I'd sent the pieces off TODAY!
