This is not likely to please E9X M3 owners......

Thanks for posting, not sure about the i3 being in the "top 10 BMWs of all Time" might be a little early for that, however, it is the future. I would add the E36 M3 in the mix, and the E9X M but that's just me.

No E30 M3 and no Z1 or Batmobil etc. but F20 1 series and i3 simply kills this selection for me; even including 1M does not save it really.

the worst thing about the E92 is the styling.....it looks less like a BMW and more like a generic coupe. i've tried to like it over the years, but i feel it lacks character. Last edited by IEDEI; 07-13-2014 at 11:50 AM.. |

I got about halfway through the list and then I saw the Jennifer Aniston bikini photos link and I lost all interest in what those guys were saying.

And I'm with most of you guys, list seems a little skewed. I'd throw the 'shoe' in that mix with the E30. But nice to see they recognised the little 1M for what it brings. Would I add the E9X? Couldn't say that I thought it was that special, but then I haven't driven an E30 or an E36, and I didn't actually like the E46 that much either, so I'm going off hear say, which makes my opinion kind of redundant. But if I'm honest, I've never really liked BMWs, which makes my purchase of a 1M a bit odd. |

i'd also take out the E36 M3 and E46 M3 CSL (SMG? no way) and put in the E28 M5 and the Z4M Coupe. |

Actually the x1 should easily take the spot of the i3 based on the sales of that model to date. It's had sales more robust than any x vehicle to date. |

Hmmmm... like your list.. A LOT. Clearly.. the original M3 has to be on there. While I love the Z3 and Z4..... are they more important than the X models in BMW history? dunno! 1. 507 2. 2002tii (and Turbo) 3. E9 3.0 CSL (Batmobile) 4. M1 5. E30 M3 (best ever chassis from BMW ? - incredible racing heritage) 6. E39 M5 ( best all around M5 but the E28 is very important too!) 7. E46 M3 CSL (best ever NA motor since the S14) 8. Z8 (trumps Z3 and Z4 with respect to the reinvention of BMW roadsters) 9. 1M ( re-launches the Turbo Era.. progenitor to M4) 10. X5 ( SAVs are very important to BMW history ) no room for " Future" when we are discussing the past ! :-) I actually think the sheer volume of sales of the X1 and it's global impact makes it more important than the X5... but the X5 was their first SAV and has many more years of sales so it gets the nod there.... No buts aboutit.. the # of sales from the SAV segment cannot be ignored.. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 07-14-2014 at 03:08 PM.. |

No clownshoe, no E30 M3, no cred. As to the exclusion of the 2002 turbo and E46 M3 CSL, they were never officially sold in the states, so perhaps that has something to do with their rational in regards to that. Then again, neither was the M1, so.......

I see they did include the E46 M3, so I guess the M3 CSL could fall under that umbrella. I do stand beside my disagreement as to the exclusion of the E36 M Coupe and E30 M3, however.

Is it a dual clutch no, but for the changes is does make a big difference. So CSL ranks up there in my book.

I wouldn't make those same choices, but I can respect it. BMW has made some awesome cars over the years, and as they stated, it's hard choosing the best of the best. But it's key to remember that like anything else in this world, it's opinionated. So I don't necessarily agree on saying the list loses credibility since they don't have the same opinions as some of us.

What is the criteria?
Importance to BMW history? Looks? Performance? My own favourite models based on nothing but personal taste. (A model I'd like to have in my garage and enjoy driving) Z8 507 M1 E89 GTR E46 GTR E82 1M E46 CSL 2002 Turbo Z3 M Coupe E86 GTR E30 M3 DTM E9 3.0 CSL E24 635 CSI E21 323i ...and that's it. I think. One down 13 to go
