Michelin PS 4S first impressions

Just replaced the original Bridgestone RFTís with the PS 4S on my 135is with only 6,600 miles. OEM size is not available in the 4S so went with 225/40 and 255/35 on the OEM wheels. No rubbing issues so far. Ride has been dramatically improved. DSC no longer comes on when getting on the throttle or going over bumps. Wet handling is also dramatically improved over the Bridgestones. I highly recommend this replacement/upgrade.

BTW - Iím considering selling my 135is. Itís mineral grey, 6 speed, black leather with blue stitching and 6,600 miles. Itís one of one in this color combo and options. PM me if interested and Iíll provide more details.

If you're still on original RFTs since 2013 they were far beyond shot to shit. Not surprised the PS4S felt better but you'll never know how much since just about anything this side of a hockey puck would have felt awesome.

Mich makes a great tire IMO.

Car only has 6,600 miles and the RFTís were just starting to show signs of dry rot. Itís a summer only car. I agree on the Michelinís. Switched my 2011 X3 to the S4ís as well from the Pirelli RFTís. Another huge difference. Have the PSSís on my 2007 M Coupe.

Michelin tires are truly fantastic tires. I won't buy anything else now a days. Not just for their ride and grip... but in the rain and at the end of the tire's Life... they ride/drive just like when new. No other tire I have run can do that.

PS: You should replace your tires when they are older than five years old. Look at the(four digit week/year) tire build date on the sidewall. Even IF the tire has thread... replace after five years old.

I completely agree. And have consistently replaced my tires at or before the five year mark if they are not fully worn before. This was an exception because of the lack of driving.

Years ago I saw something on German TV about tires... they had eight year old tires(but with full tread, 8mm's) on the rear of a VW Golf... and new tires on the front... then they drove the car on a hill test area/track in the wet(sprinklers on)... the car would oversteer and loose control so easily. Then they put those old tires on the front axle... and the car had terminal understeer. It was shocking. Then they did laps with four new tires... the car was so much faster in it's lap times. I was sold. The test really showed people how big a role tires make in how a car rides and handles and performs!

Always check your tire's build date codes. Here in Germany it's illegal for a tire dealer to sell old tires. I think older than three months old. When I have bought tires they have always been one or two weeks old... bc no tire shops stock tires... they get them in one or two days via DHL here.

Wow, that would probably have been my ideal build.

I still love my 2011 with almost 100K miles, and can't really afford two of these cars, but to the next owner, have fun!!
