It would not fire back up - some sputtering, so I assumed it was a fuel issue. Let it sit for a few hours, went back out and it fired right back up, but within a couple of minutes the wires coming out of the EKP to the pump were getting warm to the touch.

Would like to bypass the EKP for the main power source if possible and use it as a relay. Does anyone make a kit for this?
Is this what you need? https://precisionraceworks.com/colle...eries-f-series

That harness is ONLY used to turn on a second fuel pump for use with high boost. The EKP issue has been worked on by a lot of people for years. If you think you can just put together a simple relay solution to solve it overnight you would be wrong. Doing this is going to leave you with a LPFP that runs 100% duty 100% of the time. Guarantee you that’s not gonna last long…the bpm4 is the only solution out there ATM.

You can use the PWM output of the EKP to trigger a relay that lets 12V pass to the fuel pump. You might need a capacitor to keep the voltage up to prevent the relay from turning on/off rapidly.

Two issues with this... first is I have no idea what codes this will throw. The EKP is expecting certain pump voltage and currents. Second, the EKP adjust the PWM to the fuel pump to adjust flow rate based on engine demand. You would be eliminating this feature which could cause other issues.

The BPM4 is a good solution, albeit expensive.

Your issue is likely the the EKP is overheating. It will get too hot and shut down the fuel pump. It will restart once it cools down and work fine until it overheats again. Many, included myself, have added cooling to theirs. I have a heatsink on the back of the EKP mounting bracket and a 40mm fan. Then added some thermal padding between the module and the bracket. I coded out the error with ProTool.
